EMC launches virtual storage solution
Global information infrastructure technology and solution provider EMC Philippines has introduced advanced virtual storages solution allowing organizations to manage their yearly growing data by moving it from physical storage to virtual.
In a recent press briefing, Ronnie Latinazo, EMC Philippines Corp.’s country manager, said that the digital information is growing exponentially and is projected to grow by 44 percent. EMC virtual storages help organization save cost and time in managing their growing data.
He said EMC invested 10 percent of its profits on research and development (RND) to offer solutions ahead of its competitors in the market.
EMC launched two products--EMC VLPEX local and VPLEX metro product—to address the fundamental challenges of rapidly relocating applications and large amount of information on demand within and across data centers which is a key enabler of private cloud infrastructure.
Karen de Guzman, EMC Philippines account technology consultant, said that with the VPLEX solution it is able to move data from one distance to another, across the region allowing company to save space and cost.
The storage virtualization is a virtual layer between host and storage, abstracting physical elements into logical views to provide non-disruptive mobility and management across arrays.
De Guzman cited as an example that its latest products can send data through teleport from EMC Hopkinton headquarters in Massachusetts to another office in Boston, 26 miles apart, using 26 virtual machines with 26 GB per VM in just a few minutes.
The EMC VPLEX, combined with other EMC virtual storage technologies like FAST (fully automated storage tiering) are transforming storage arrays in the same way server virtualization technology has transformed physical services from dedicated single purpose machines to shared across multiple operating environment.
"VPLEX is groundbreaking technology and that will change the way data centers are designed and managed. The ability to share, move and access large amount of data regardless of location is a key element of the journey of the private cloud," Brian Galladher , EMC Symmetrix ,virtualization product group said.
