COSMETIC surgeon Hayden Kho Jr. had his medical license revoked over the immorality complaints filed by former girlfriend-actress Katrina Halili.
In an eight-page resolution, the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) found Kho guilty of immorality and dishonorable and/or unethical conduct offensive to the profession.
The decision dated Nov. 20 was signed by six doctors led by the chairman of the board of medicine, Dr. Restituto C. de Ocampo.
The PRC said Kho violated the right of privacy of Halili when he videotaped their intimate acts without her consent and knowledge.
It said the Board maintains that the act of Kho having sexual relationship with his own patient constitutes unprofessional and unethical conduct.
"This violated the oath taken by Dr. Kho that he will treat his patients with respect, and conduct himself with honor, dignity and integrity," the PRC noted.
"Physicians are expected to show respect for women, and to uphold the honor and integrity of the medical profession in dealing with their patients," it added.
The PRC started investigating Kho after Halili asked the agency to revoke his license for being a disgrace to the medical profession.
Kho’s sex videos with various female partners, including Halili, found their way into Internet five months ago.
Halili said the video was taken without her knowledge and consent.
Three months ago, the Philippine Medical Association suspended Kho for two years over the same case and reason.
The PRC ordered Kho to surrender his certificate of registration/professional license and identification card as a physician not later than 10 days from the finality of the decision and "to desist from the practice of the medical profession, under pain of criminal prosecution."
Nicolas Lapeña, PRC chair, said in a report that Kho could still file for an appeal but he could not practice medicine pending the final decision on his motion.
"In case the board turns down his motion, he could still ask the PRC to reconsider its decision after two or three years and the board will check if his conduct is still unbecoming a doctor," he added.
Halili’s lawyer Raymund Palad said: "We are very happy because the PRC already revoked Kho’s license. We hope this incident will serve as a lesson to other doctors and other medical practitioners to treat their patients with respect."
