MAKING its debut at the recent Philippine Fashion Week, hip label Fresh Gear (F’g) took its audience on an adventure into a virtual urban jungle where the attitude and interests of the younger generation reign supreme. Complete with its own DJ, spinning live to set the tempo, F’g rocked the runways with dynamic, stylish pieces that proclaimed the youth’s fearlessness, curiosity, and energy.
Dubbed "Wild Stories," Fresh Gear featured four main collection categories that shout all-out street glamor with a hard edge. Colors of Nature paid homage to the wide spectrum of nature’s colors, such as the deep blue of the oceans, the vivid greens, and the warm, earthy colors.
Primeval Patterns of Nature featured geometric representations, abstract prints and ethnic patterns. Zeroing in on heavy enzyme washed denims, the segment was inspired by 80s glam, from the bright socks to the headbands. Flora & Fauna set off a romantic vibe with a showcase of floral-printed shirts and button-down polos in whites and pastels paired with vintage-washed denims.
Wild and Dark Nature rounded up the collection with items that reference the "darker" side of nature. Blacks, grays, and dark hues were the prominent colors, with some pieces featuring dark prints and leather and neon touches. Ripped and distressed jeans gave off that rock-glam/biker chick look for girls and rock-star vibe for guys.
F’g infused denims with attitude, training the spotlight on "Ethereal Jeans," leather detailed jeans in special washes; and "Thrasher Jeans" which includes the "Extreme Weather-Washed Denim," featuring peppered surfaces, cloud-like bleached effects, cracked and creased wash techniques, and dusky carbonized finishes; and "Worn-Afflicted Denim" that boasts rigid washing, tonic back-pocket embroidery, abraided and beaten effects, and frayed and layered textures.
The latest F’g collection is now exclusively available in the boys and girls teens sections of SM Department Stores.
