IT’S D-Day for former president Joseph Estrada and running mate Mayor Makati mayor Jejomar Binay and they will be joined by the United Opposition (UNO) senatorial ticket in filing their certificates of candidacy.
Estrada has said they have chosen Nov. 30 to show their solidarity with the marginalized sector.
The senatorial ticket includes former Negros Occidental Rep. Apolinario Lozada, Senators Jinggoy Estrada, Juan Ponce Enrile and Miriam Defensor Santiago, businessman Joey de Venecia III and Agusan Rep. Rodolfo Plaza. Jinggoy, Enrile and Santiago are running for re-election.
Detained Army general Danilo Lim is a guest candidate.
Estrada’s group and their supporters will hear mass at around 9 a.m. at the Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila in observance of Bonifacio Day.
Estrada will unveil the party’s platform while Binay will speak on good governance.
After the program, the party will march to the Comelec via Taft ave. and Intramuros.
As of last night, there are 51 candidates for president, four for vice president and 66 for senator.
Nicanor Perlas, an advocate of environment protection, yesterday filed his COC for president.
His platform of governance includes poverty alleviation, eliminating corruption, promoting environment protection, pushing for social justice and making proper education accessible.
Former Cebu Gov. Emilio Mario "Lito" Osmeña also filed his COC for senator under his Promdi Party. Osmeña lost in the 1998 presidential elections. – Ashzel Hachero and Gerard Naval
