Lozada: Let’s place
all our bets on the truth

NBN-ZTE star witness Rodolfo "Jun" Lozada yesterday called on the Filipinos to go beyond prayer in their fight for truth.

"Sa aking maliit na ginawa, ako ay tumaya para sa katotohanan. Ngunit, malakas ang bangka (sa sugalan). Kung marami tayong tataya, mapapataob natin ang bangka at makukuha natin ang kaban ng bayan na patuloy na ninanakawan nung nasa bangka," he said after a Mass for Truth at the Holy Trinity Parish in Sampaloc, Manila.

"Yung iba, ayaw nila tumaya dahil nababalatuhan naman sila ng nasa bangka at sinasabing wala namang patutunguhan ang pinaglalaban natin," he added.

Lozada said his ongoing efforts to continue the search for truth in the government is being reinforced by his desire to "live out his faith."

He dismissed accusations that he is doing the series of Masses for Truth for a bid to seek public position.

In his homily, parish priest Fr. Eric Adevoso said the public should mourn the loss of truth and accountability in the country but said it should not discourage the fight against corruption.

He said the faithful should take a cue from the efforts of Lozada in bucking all the harassment, death threats and pressures to expose the truth behind corruption in government.

He said not taking action for truth and accountability is just like throwing away the cause of the past battles and hardships of the national heroes.

Several representatives of the Holy Trinity Academy, including students and employees, lay members of the parish church and the clan of former President Corazon Aquino expressed their continued support for the fight for truth led by Lozada.

Next Sunday’s Mass for Truth will be at Holy Child Catholic School in Tondo, Manila. – Gerard Naval
