"YES, I am a slut. But I am the best slut in
town," said Anne Curtis in one of her most unforgettable scenes
in the TV series "Maging Sino Ka Man." Her role as Celine
Magsaysay in the popular TV series was a turning point in her
career. Critics and fans alike say it was the role that stripped
Anne of her status as just another fast-rising young actress,
and turned her into a certified star.
But all good things come to an end, and in
Book Two of the much talked-about series, Celine succumbed to
pancreatic cancer. It was a scene that broke viewers’ hearts.
Celine may be dead, but Anne continues to live her dreams in the
real world. After her commendable performance in "Maging Sino Ka
Man," more opportunities knock at her door.
The first of them is her upcoming movie "When
Love Begins," where she is paired opposite her dream leading
man, Aga Muhlach. A co-production venture between Viva Films and
Star Cinema, "When Love Begins" is a touching drama-romance
about a man and a woman who are afraid of commitment. The movie
premieres on April 30.
"When Love Begins" is a project Anne has long
been waiting to do since she entered showbiz. Although she’s
made several films, there was one project that eluded her, and
that was the one that she dreamed of doing with Aga. "That’s why
I say this movie is really a dream come true for me," says Anne.
Then there’s ABS-CBN’s upcoming fantaserye
"Dyosa" where Anne will play an 18-year-old girl who learns that
she is the descendant of Mariang Sinukuan and Bernardo Carpio
and as such, she is destined to rule the world of the upper
gods. But her discovery comes with a price: she must choose
between fulfilling her destiny and the man she loves.
"I’m very excited about ‘Dyosa,’" Anne says.
"Iba kasi ang concept. It’s the kind of show that will
let me show people just how versatile I really am."
Anne indeed is one versatile performer. Not
only can she act, but she proves that she can also sing and
dance as seen in the Sunday noontime variety show "ASAP ’08."
One of her most recent performances, a rendition of Mariah
Carey’s latest single "Touch My Body," was well-received by the
"ASAP ’08" audience.
Anne also dab-bles in comedy (as part of the
forthcoming all-female gag show "Banana Split") and hosting
("ASAP ’08" and "MTV").
She is also one of the country’s most
in-demand celebrity endorsers, and among the beauty products she
endorses include Head and Shoulders. She just wrapped up work on
three TV commercials for Splash Corporation: Biolink Lotion,
Biolink Feminine Wash and another one, which will air next
month.
A fashionista in her own right, Anne graces
several billboards as image models for Freeway, Watch Republic,
Freego and VNC fashion brands. For several years now, she has
also been the endorser of GSM Blue.
As an actress, host and commercial endorser,
Anne is just amazing! And she doesn’t mind if she’s a lot busier
now.
"Sure, I might have less private time now, but okay lang,
I’m just grateful to be working," ends Anne.
