PROVING they are unbeatable in the 10K category, two-time
Olympian Eduardo Buenavista and Mercedita Fetalvero dominated the 4th Bonifacio
Global City Fun Run yesterday at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
Buenavista, owner of the country’s marathon record, sized up
his opponents early in the race before pulling away for good at the halfway
mark.
Alley Quisay and Jessie Ano tried to mount a challenge but
fell about a hundred meters short of beating Buenavista.
Buenavista, who won P6,000 and a brand new pair of Anta
shoes, completed the course at the Global City in 31 minutes and 30 seconds.
Quisay settled for the runner-up purse of P5,000 with a
clocking of 31:58 while Ano went home with P4,000 after clocking 32 minutes.
Fetalvero was virtually uncontested in the distaff side,
finishing the race in 36:50. Sayrol Enate was second in 38:06 while Anna
Whitehouse was third in 40:24.
The top three winners in the women’s race received the same
prize as their male counterparts.
A total of 1,550 runners joined the annual race organized by
the Fort Bonifacio Development Corp. in partnership with JPT General
Merchandising, Inc., the country’s exclusive distributor of Anta, a leading
China brand of performance footwear, apparel and accessories.
Jun Bisnar, Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation
commercial operations head, said the guest celebrity runners ran for a total of
43 kilometers in various events yesterday. He will donate P43,000 to the Taguig
Science High School as part of the event’s "Run For A Cause" program.
