"Nescafe Soundskool," by far the biggest and most exciting college band competition in the country, once again paves the road to stardom for the most talented college acts in the country.

"Nescafe Soundskool 2007" is open to all unsigned bands whose members are currently enrolled in a college or university. They must be Filipino citizens or have resided in the Philippines for at least a year and are from 16 to 26 years old. A minimum of three and a maximum of five members per band are allowed.

The college/university being represented by the band should have at least one member enrolled in the said school and the band should have a written endorsement letter signed by the authorized school personnel.

This shall accompany the band entry which includes the following: completed application form (downloadable at www.Nescafe.com.ph), demo compact disc with one cover and one original song with a maximum running time of three minutes each, photocopy of birth certificate, proof of enrollment, a 4R photo of the group, lyric sheets and empty genuine Nescafe Classic foil packs or Nescafe 3in1 boxes.

All entries should be sealed in a short brown envelope with the band’s name and school written at the back. Entries may be submitted to partner school organizations or sent to NESTLE Philippines. Entries may also be mailed: Frontrow Direct Media Group, Unit 2508 Jollibee Plaza, Emerald Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Deadline for the submission of entries is on September 5, 2007.

To encourage talented campus bands to step up, "Nescafe Soundskool" has arranged live demo CD recordings for free at the following venues: Metro Manila – Midi Sounds Music Production in New Manila and Crystal Audio and Communication Technology in Las Piñas, and Vista Verde in Cainta on Aug. 17 and 18 and Naked Mind Studio in Roosevelt Ave., QC on August 19 and 26; Laguna – NY Quist Recording Studio in Sta. Rosa on Aug. 17 and 18; Pampanga – D’Zone Digital Recording Studio on Aug. 17 and 18; Baguio – Brainfreeze Studio in Rimando Road from Aug. 15 to 19 and Baguio Music Studio in Lower Session Road on Aug. 17 and 18;

In Visayas and Mindanao, the live demo recordings are as follows: Cebu– Media Track Audio Visual Production Studio in Cebu City on Aug. 17 and 18; Bacolod – Rock’s Garden in Bacolod City on Aug. 17; Tacloban – Harmony Hub in Tacloban City on Aug. 17; Iloilo – Soundworks Pro Audio in Iloilo City on Aug. 17; Davao – Polyfusion Recording Studio in Davao City on Aug. 17 and 18; Cagayan de Oro – D Band Recording Studio in Cagayan de Oro City on Aug. 17.

Last year, finalists to the "Nescafe Soundskool" had the opportunity to participate in workshops that culminated in the paradise-island of Boracay. The workshops were conducted by members of the country’s top bands including Nescafe endorser Hale, popular band Sugarfree, and Sandwich, with former Eraserheads drummer Raymund Marasigan.

This year, it has lined up an even more exciting list of workshops with more of the country’s top groups. They will also be given the rare chance to jam with their music idols.

The workshop, of course, is just one of the rewards for this year’s batch of finalists. That is because, aside from giving them the chance to be discovered, they will also have the chance to win P250,000 in cash, a contract with EMI Philippines, and P150,000-worth of a full band setup for their school if they emerge as the grand champions of the contest.
