Meet Meg. She’s sweet, rich, a campus
queen, a circle of privileged friends – she has everything a
teen could wish for…or does she? What lies beyond charmed life
and sophisticated existence?
Meet Abby, Meg’s best friend,
overcompensating albeit sometimes insecure. If not for Meg,
she would be the campus’ queen bee. She grudgingly accepts
playing second to Meg in the popularity contest since she has
the undivided attention of her boyfriend and politician’s
scion, Jake…or does she really? What happens if she finds out
that Jake has a penchant for Meg?
Meet Kyle, Edge, Jake, Maui and Jiggo, the
boys of Linden High. To the outside world, they are a cool
bunch of well-heeled boys, rich or talented enough to be
included in the school roster.
And finally, meet Steph, Ziggy, and Louise.
Steph is the veritable mean girl fired by a determination to
dethrone Meg and Abby from their exalted status in campus.
Ziggy is the balikbayan who wants to fit in even if her
financial status is not congruent to her social dreams. Louise
is the Chinese heiress who just wants to live a normal teen’s
life. Perky Charina Suzara on the other hand plays the
indomitable Juvilee, who thinks that wealth brought about by
lottery winnings can bring her to the "in" circle.
These are some of the interesting kids of
Linden High whose personal dramas are all revealed in the
website "Lipgloss."
"Lipgloss" is the newest weekly youth drama
to hit local television today and is slated to air every
Saturday, starting August 16 at 5 p.m. on TV 5. "Lipgloss"
brings together the bunch of freshest faces and talents that
is sure to rock Saturday night primetime.
"Lipgloss" is about the triumphs and
travails of the students of upscale Linden High, and how their
personal and muddled relationships, misfortunes, heartbreaks
and dreams beyond their "glossy" images are revealed through
their website by an anonymous blogger.
The recent press launch was attended by the
engaging cast composed of showbiz royalty and new talents.
Television, movie and theater heartthrob Sam Concepcion plays
Kyle, a geeky freshman who has a nose for both mischief and
gadgets; he also turns out to be the secret moderator of "Lipgloss."
Meg is Saab Magalona, now coming into her own as a deep
actress. As Meg, Saab is both sassy, refreshing and loyal,
determined to ride and conquer the roller coaster of teen
emotions and true love. Elegant beauty Maxine Eigenmann plays
Abby, on and off bratty and bitchy best friend of Meg. Her
vengeful side is unmasked when she discovers that Jake, her
boyfriend played by Rodjun Cruz, has feelings for her best
friend. Edge is played by dragon-boat enthusiast Kevin Lapena,
nephew of actor Lorenzo Mara. He plays the pseudo-deep guy
crazy in love with the popular Meg. Stage and TV personality
Cheska Ortega plays Ziggy, a freshman obsessed with breaking
into the upper crust of popularity. Louise is Mary Grace
Perido, one of the more sought after fresh talents today. Miki
Hahn is the campus "mean girl." Mikee Lee and Fred Payawan
play Maui and Jiggo respectively.
Seasoned artists such as Lorenzo Mara,
screen siren Rachel Lobangco, Lloyd Samartino, Ricardo Cepeda
and Emilio Garcia also play important roles in the youth
teledrama.
"Lipgloss" is an interesting saga that deals with real
issues of the young beyond boy-meets-girl stories. "Lipgloss"
is co-produced for TV5 by Prime Events Force Unlimited Inc.
and is directed by Cris Pablo and Aleah Aliporo Eugenio. It
airs every Saturday at 5 p.m. on TV5 .
