HP launches tree
planting with DENR

HP Philippines recently held its "Sagip" tree-planting activity in cooperation with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) at the Mts. Palay-Palay and Mataas na Gulod National Park in Ternate, Cavite.

Noted for its indigenous and rare species of flora and fauna, the Mts. Palay-Palay and Mataas na Gulod National Park is protected under the National Integrated Protected Areas (NIPAS) law and covers three mountain peaks.

Since 2005, HP Philippines has been coordinating closely with the DENR to increase awareness of environmental issues among HP employees as well as to develop a series of best practices aimed at reducing environmental impact. These initiatives are in line with HP’s commitment to global citizenship, with concerted worldwide efforts to help reduce environmental impact, raise standards in HP’s global supply chain, and invest in communities to help people learn, work and thrive.

"HP believes that with global reach comes global responsibility. We conduct our business with uncompromising integrity and strives to live up to all of its commitments to its customers, partners and employees and shareholders," said Carla Pasion, Real Estate and Workplace Solutions (REWS), HP Philippines. "We take our role to heart by being an economic, intellectual, and social asset to the communities in which we do business and of which we are a part."

HP Philippines also held several other company-wide initiatives in celebration of World Earth Day, including a seminar on global warming and other environmental issues hosted by a representative from the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). HP has a long-term global partnership with WWF to establish projects aimed at addressing the causes and consequences of climate change.
