Flawless James lifts
Team USA over Uruguay
LAS VEGAS. — LeBron James went 11-for-11
from the field, hitting all four of his three-point attempts,
to score 26 points and lead the USA to a 118-79 victory over
Uruguay Wednesday in the second round of the FIBA Americas
tournament.
James, who played only 14 minutes, was just
two points short of the American record in an Olympic
qualifying game shared by Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson.
Amare Stoudemire finished with 19 points,
Deron Williams had 14 while Kobe Bryant and Tayshaun Prince
added 13 apiece for the Team USA, unscathed in six games.
They next face fellow unbeaten Argentina
Thursday (Friday in Manila), with the winner taking top
seeding in the semifinals which starts Saturday.
Argentina downed Brazil 86-79 to also
improve to 6-0.
Anthony skipped the game with a bruised
right heel. Michael Redd started in his place and had nine
points.
Esteban Batista, who played 70 games for the Atlanta Hawks
over the last two seasons, led Uruguay with 20 points.
