‘Mutya’ queens crowned tonight

TONIGHT at the Resorts World Manila’s Newport Performing Arts Theater, three new queens – Mutya ng Pilipinas-Asia Pacific International, Mutya ng Pilipinas-Tourism International and Mutya ng PIlipinas-Top Model of the World – will be crowned from a bevy of 30 contestants from all over the country as well as from overseas Filipino communities.

After two weeks of preliminary competitions and activities, the ladies are ready to battle it out for the coveted titles and the right to represent the Philippines in forthcoming international pageants.

Aside from the three major titles, two runners-up will also be selected who will also compete in Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International and Miss Tourism Metropolitan International. A special title, Mutya ng Pilipinas-Overseas Communities, will be given to the best delegate
from the overseas contingents from Japan, Singapore, Australia, Hawaii, California, Iceland and United Kingdom.

Hawaii’s Savannah Gankiewicz won as Best in Swimsuit while Jannie Loudette Alipo-on of Navotas won two titles: Best in Resort Wear and Mutya ng Hannah’s at the swimsuit competition held at Hannah’s Beach Resort & Convention Center in Pagudpud, Ilocos Sur last July 22.

Meanwhile, Crystal Rosehelly Alday of Camarines Sur won Best in Regional Costume for her mint green-and-gold Filipiniana created by Louis Pangilinan at the regional costume competition held at The Plaza of Resorts World Manila last July 26.

Last Friday at Alta D’Tagaytay in Tagaytay, Sandrianne Esquilona of Tarlac won the Best in Evening Gown title award for her embroidered pale blue Rian Fernandez creation. Jannie Alipo-on of Navotas in a midnight blue Jontie Martinez creation was second, while Ilene de Vera of
Cebu was 3rd in a powder-blue gown by Roy Erwin Tizon.

Pageant Watch have picked ten ladies who are most likely to stand out in tonight’s finals:  Chella Grace Falconer of Northern Mindanao, Cristelle Ann Tolentino of Manila, Sofia Marie Sibug of Albay, Nicole Kristel Losloso of Southern Luzon, Ilene Astrid de Vera of Cebu, Savannah
Mari Gankiewicz of Hawaii, Angela Carla Sandigan of Pateros, Colleen Chan of Iloilo, Jannie Loudette Alipo-on of Navotas and Suzanne Perez of California.

The finals will be telecast on ABS-CBN on August 6, 9:45 a.m. before “ASAP.”


Congratulations to the winners of the Miss Tourism Philippines Pageant held at Chardonnay by Astoria in Pasig last Sunday.  

Marian Angelu Perez Alcantara, a Tourism Hospitality Management graduate of William Angliss Institute in Melbourne, Australia, was crowned as Miss Tourism World-Philippines 2017 and will vie for Miss Tourism World in Melaka, Malaysia later this year.

Tricia Estabillo Manalo, a Tourism Management graduate of St. Mary’s University in Bayombong Nueva Vizcaya, was crowned as Miss Tourism Universe-Philippines 2017 and will vie for Miss Tourism Universe in Beirut, Lebanon later this year.

Hats off to Amelia Sunio-Abarquez, the president of Miss Tourism Philippines Organization.
