Empoy explains why he’s single

Because of the success of his movie with Alessandra De Rossi, “Kita Kita,” Empoy Marquez has been tagged as the face of the new “pogi.” We visited the set of the box office star’s latest movie, “Ang Kuwento ni Money,” and he admitted to feeling speechless with all the blessings coming his way.

“Sobrang blessed po ni God sa lahat ng natatanggap at natatamasa ko ngayon, thank you po sa nangyayari sa akin.” Empoy said.

Marquez added that with the box office success of “Kita Kita,” which earned more than P315 million at the box office, he opted to choose a far different role as his next project to prevent comparison.

“’Ang Kuwento po ni Money’ hango po ito sa history ng peso natin, ang pag papahalaga po ng pera natin. Isang mamamayan po natin ang nakapagtabi ng ganung halaga at pagdating ng panahon ay mayroon palang ganung value na...,” he related, “Ibang istorya to. It’s about money lang talaga. .. it’s different from ‘Kita Kita’ kasi love story po yun, ito naman po about sa history ng Pilipinas (laughs) ...”

Empoy is about to sign a movie deal with Star Cinema this month and is set to start a new series under Dreamscape Television.

The funny guy, who received a bonus from his “Kita Kita” producers, revealed his earnings go directly to the bank.

“Sa ngayon po talagang ipon po muna at sa ngayon wala pa po talaga ako na gagawa sa mga (kinita),” he said, “kung anong meron ako ngayon impok muna tapos family tapos God tapos family.”

When asked about his love life, Empoy turned to comedy.

“Focused muna talaga ako sa work, kasi strict ‘yung parents ko,” he deadpanned.

Turning serious, he opened up about “the one that got away.”

“Wala na talaga, kasi nasa Singapore na ‘yung dati ko (love), so work muna talaga ngayon at siguro darating din ang tamang time para dyan,” he revealed.

“May communication kami hanggang ngayon,” he added. “Sakto naman at may family na siya and this Tuesday pupunta ako doon (Singapore) kasi may work ako… Friends naman po kami sa Friendster.”
