Northern belles for Bb. Pilipinas 2014

MISS Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler of Venezuela will be the special guest of honor at the 51st Bb. Pilipinas coronation night at the Big Dome on March 30. She will sit in the panel of judges and will crown the new Miss Universe Philippines together with Miss Universe 2013 3rd runner-up Ariella Arida.

Isler, the seventh Venezuelan to win as Miss Universe, will travel to the Philippines with Paula Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization. Isler will also help in the relief and rebuild programs of the provinces affected by typhoon Yolanda through the Miss Universe Fund. This is the second time that a reigning non-Filipino Miss Universe will grace the Bb. Pilipinas coronation night. In 1977, then reigning Miss Universe Rina Messinger of Israel (together with Miss USA 1977 Kim Tomes) crowned Anna Lorraine Kier as Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 1977 at the Big Dome.

The grand finals on March 30 will truly be a spectacular show. It will feature three reigning world beauty champions: Isler, Miss International 2013 Bea Santiago and Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Datul and 40 gorgeous contestants, who will vie for the crowns and, hopefully, eventually win more international crowns for the Philippines.

This year’s bevy of Binibinis includes two imposing beauties from Cagayan Valley region who are raring to continue the legacy of the pride of Isabela, Miss Supranational Mutya Datul.

Binibini #26 is Hannah Sheena Lim Manuel, 22, from Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. Sheena is the second in the brood of five of Atty. Arnel P. Manuel, head of the Public Attorney’s Office in Santiago City, Isabela and the former Olivella B. Lim, principal of Anquiray High School in Amulung, Cagayan.

Shenna is a Business Administration graduate and stands 5’8 ½”. She was the second runner-up of the Mutya ng Santiago 2009 and Bb. Cagayan-Turismo in 2013. She hopes to win the Miss Universe-Philippines title and become the third Filipina to win as Miss Universe.

Binibini #30 is Joy Marie Fernandez Gangan, 19, from Ilagan City, Isabela. She is the eldest in the brood of five of Joel Gangan (deceased) and the former Maritess Fernandez. Joy Marie, who stands at 5’9”, is a sophomore BS Industrial Technology (major in Food Technology) at Isabela State University-Ilagan.

A country girl at heart, Joy bravely faced the challenges of city life when she went to Manila to represent Ilagan City at the Reyna ng Aliwan 2012 pageant where she emerged as a runner-up and the winner for Best in Swimsuit. At the 2012 Miss Tourism World Philippines pageant, she won the Best Model title and went on to win Best Model for Asia at the Best Model of the World 2012 Pageant in Istanbul, Turkey.

Sheena and Joy are being trained by the “Saimak” training camp headed by Kaloy Valera, with Mitch Membrere and Lei Battad as catwalk skills and communication skills facilitators, respectively.
