To sirs – and ma’ams – with love

LUIS Manzano admits that, at 36, he is ready to settle down.

His showbiz career, and his businesses, are all doing well.

“Kahit nga ang mommy ko is urging me na mag-asawa na. She can’t wait daw na magkaroon na ng manugang at apo sa akin,” Luis said, referring to Lipa Rep. Vilma Santos.

In that case, what is he waiting for?

“Well, siguro, right timing. At dapat, ‘di ba, tanungin ko rin si Jessy, if, at 24, ready na siya to settle down,” he replied.

We had the chance to talk with Luis at the press con of his new game show, “I Can See Your Voice,” which takes over the timeslot of Judy Ann Santos’ “Bet on Your Baby.”

Luis said “I Can See Your Voice” is an interesting reality show.

“But, of course, you have to watch to appreciate it,” he stressed.

With him in the show are Angeline Quinto, Alex Gonzaga, Kean Cipriano, Wacky Kiray and Andrew E.

Christmas is still a few months away, but already, Joross Gamboa, sounding overwhelmed said he already got himself a wonderful present.

Joross has reportedly been tapped by Star Cinema to play the husband of Judy Ann Santos in the movie “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes,” which also stars Angelica Panganiban and JC de Vera.

“Ang makasama ko lang sina Angelica at Judy Ann sa isang project, isang accomplishment ko na itong maituturing,” he said.

Joross also feels thankful for his role in the top-rating ABS-CBN series, “La Luna Sangre,” with Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, plus Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin.

Married to Katz Saga, Joross is dad to two kids.

“Sa totoo lang, parang Christmas every day ang buhay ko ngayon,” he claimed, “At ang nakakatuwa, everything just fell into place without my asking. Ang bait sa akin ni Lord at sa aking pamilya.”

Early on, Maymay Entrata knew she did not have the superstar looks to land a movie deal.

But a lead star, in a Star Cinema movie, no less, she is now.

She stars in “Loving in Tandem” with a handsome leading man, Edward Barber.

“Totoo pala ang sabi ng lolo ko na mangarap lang ako at sabayan ko ng panalangin at matutupad ito. Sayang nga lang, na bago pa man ako na-proclaimed na champ ng PBB Lucky 7, namatay na si Lolo,” she sighed.

“I can only imagine how he would have felt na finally artista na rin ako.”

“Loving in Tandem,” Maymay describes, is not only filled with laughs but solid romantic scenes, too.

Did she and Edward kiss?

Maymay laughed before answering: “Panoorin nyo ang pelikula. And you would know.”

Also in “Loving in Tandem” Kisses Delavin, Marco Gallo, Ryan Bang, Thou Reyes, Ketchup Eusebio, Cacai Bautista and Carmi Martin. Child actor Xymon “Onyok” Pineda is also featured.

Celebrities have favorite teachers, too.

This obviously is the reason PLDT Gabay Guro Foundation did not have a hard time inviting top entertainers to perform to a grand gathering on September 17 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Here are the stars set to pay tribute to teachers: Lea Salonga, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Martin Nivera, Gary Valenciano, Jaya, Sarah Geronimo, Pia Wurtzbach, Pops Fernandez, Andre Wolfe, Michael Pangilinan, Jona Viray, Marian Rivera, Southborder, Jay-R, Luke Mejares, UP Pep Squad and G-Force, among others.

Now on its 10th year, Gabay Guro Foundation is chaired by Chaye Cabal-Revilla with Gary Dujali, PLDT executive, as head of brand advocacy.

Joshua Garcia, McCoy de Leon, Jerome Ponce and Nash Aguas, the young actors of “The Good Son,” said they attended acting workshops before they finally faced the cameras.

“Ang gagaling din kasi ng mga senior stars na kasama namin sa cast,” said Nash, who started in showbiz as a child actor. “Siguro, kung hindi kami dumaan sa workshop, baka naging sakit ng ulo nila kami.”

The senior performers in question are Albert Martinez, John Estrada, Cherry Pie Picache, Eula Valdez and Mylene Dizon.
