Comforting cheesy recipes

THE Eden Comfort Food Maker will provide comfort to Filipinos for their everyday efforts, through a delicious, hot rice bowl meal topped with creamy Eden Cheese. An on-ground activation, it will be present where comfort is needed the most – bus terminals, government offices, hospitals and private offices, among others.

Michelle Gan, Mondelez Philippines category lead for cheese, said Eden wants to be present at these touch points because it is important for people to know they deserve this level of ease and hopefully, a stomach full of Eden Cheesy dishes will help them along the way.

Through the app interface on the machine, it will ask customers how they are feeling today. They can choose from a range of emotions – sad, stressed, tired, and worried. A rice bowl meal will match each mood level.

However, should consumers wish to choose a different rice bowl, they may do so. The rice bowls toppings and their corresponding moods are the following: cheesy chicken adobo (sad), cheesy tuna (stressed), cheesy pork giniling (tired), and cheesy pork steak (worried).

Each rice bowl meal is conveniently priced at P50. Customers also have the option to purchase a pack of Eden Original Cheese 165g at P48. The machine will also note the following allergens in each dish.

Although it is automated, it is still man-operated as the brand ensures the food safety and quality – heated at the right temperature and served to the customers fresh. The machine starts making its rounds around the metro in June.

Hanz Danielle Lao, Eden Cheese assistant brand manager, said Eden wants to be there to embrace them whenever they need the comfort.

Lao said Eden Cheese has been providing that brand of comfort through mom’s delicious and creamy dishes for over 37 years. “With every bite of Eden Cheese, one will feel that warmth and that hug coming from mom.”

For his part, JP Anglo, a celebrity chef, uses cheese as it is a bridging ingredient to whatever (food) that is foreign or unfamiliar. Although he has his own take

At the launch, Anglo dished out these following recipes:

CHEESY PORK STEAK

Ingredients:
• 1 kilo pork thinly sliced
• 1/4 cup soy sauce
• 1 piece lemon or 4 pieces calamansi
• 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
• 3 cloves garlic, crushed
• 1 large onion, sliced into rings
• 4 tbsp cooking oil
• Salt to taste
• 1 pc 35g Eden Cheese

Instructions:
1. Marinate pork in soy sauce, calamansi, and ground black pepper for at least 1 hour.
2. Heat the cooking oil in a pan then stir-fry the onion rings until the texture becomes soft. Set aside.
3. In the same pan where the onions were fried, fry the marinated pork  (without the marinade) until color turns brown. Set aside.
4. Put-in the garlic then saute for a few minutes.
5. Pour the marinade and bring to a boil.
6. Put in the fried pork and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until meat is tender.
7. Add water as needed.
8. Add the stir-fried onions and some salt to taste.
9. Add thinly sliced Eden Cheese on top of the pork steak.
