Philex Mining garners Anvil Awards

PHILEX Mining Corporation, one of the region’s oldest and largest gold and copper producers, recently won two awards during the Public Relations Society of the Philippines’ (PRSP) Gabi ng Parangal 52nd Anvil Awards at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel.

Philex’s 2015 Annual Report “Depth” earned a Gold Anvil Award for “highlighting the Company’s rich, high quality metal ore drives national development and social progress.”

The Company also bagged a Silver Anvil Award for its 2015 Sustainability Report “Magnitude” where it showcased the Padcal mine site operations alongside the community it supports.

“This is a testimony of our good governance, especially in a heavily-regulated industry such as ours,” according to Philex President and CEO Eulalio B. Austin Jr. “These awards will also be a distinction above other mining companies and is in line with our objective of raising the bar on public perception of responsible mining. For sure, Philex will be in the lead.”

“We are glad that the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) recognized our efforts in transforming our 2015 Annual and Sustainable Reports into something interesting and reader-friendly for all stakeholders and for them to learn how we advocate responsible mining. Through these reports, we hope all stakeholders will understand and appreciate how mining becomes a catalyst in nation-building,” said Philex Mining’s Chief Finance Officer Danny Y. Yu

The annual Anvil Awards organized by PRSP recognizes the best programs and tools that meet the highest PR standards. It is the most coveted prize in the public relations industry as its entries are
rigorously screened by seasoned PR practitioners in the country.

“It’s personally and professionally very rewarding to know our work achieved acclaim and recognition by our industry colleagues. The awards are a testament to the hard work, dedication and passion of Philex Mining Corp on producing award winning reports year after year, and they’re also a reflection of our commitment to responsible mining. We share this award with everyone and thank you for being the motivating force behind what we do every day,” said Atty. Michael T. Toledo, SVP for Public and Regulatory Affairs of Philex Mining Corp.

The root of Philex Mining’s business is the depth of its socio-economic and environmental commitment to the Filipino Nation and beyond.

“These awards are a testimony of our good governance especially in a heavily regulated industry. It’s also a distinction above the other mining companies which is a plus a factor in the future if ever responsible mining will be adopted by this administration. For sure Philex will be ahead of the pack.”
