Robredo’s net worth shrinks to P1.11M

VICE President Leni Robredo’s net worth shrunk to just P1.114 million as of yearend 2017 from P8.878 million in 2016 as cash loans she drew to pay fees for a counter-protest against losing VP bet Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. took a hefty chunk off her assets.

Since getting elected vice president, Robredo has seen a 90 percent drop in her net worth from P11.053 million in June 2016.

Based on her 2017 statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN) Robredo declared liabilities amounting to P11.9 million against total assets of P13.014 million.

The year before, she declared P6.9 million liabilities against P15.78 million in total assets.

Robredo’s SALN listed cash borrowed from relatives and friends of her late husband, former Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, which comprised the entirety of her liabilities.

The loans were extended by the Estate of Jose Robredo (P2 million), Jocelyn Austria (P2 million), Vicente Hao Chin Jr. (P2 million), Rafael Bundoc (P2 million), Jose Robredo Jr. (P1.15 million), Estate of Marcelina Robredo (P1 million), Pablito Chua (P1 million), and Salvacion Gerona (P750,000).

Robredo last year posted P8 million with the Presidential Electoral Tribunal as partial counter-protest fees for a vote recount against her defeated opponent, Marcos Jr.

As the second highest elected official of the government, Robredo receives a monthly pay of P148,478.
