HONDA PH TWIN WINS: Flagship dealer opens in Davao, Pinoy rider sent off to int’l race

THREE month was all that Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI) needed to launch three new concept showrooms to showcase the brand’s prowess and support for local racing, with the dream of getting a Filipino to the pinnacle of all motorcycle races, MotoGP.

Following the launch of its latest big bike collection in Makati and Cebu, HPI’s unveiling of its new Big Bike Showroom in its Flagship Shop in Buhangin, Davao City also shows the company’s confidence in the growth of the province and the city.

“Last December 2017 and January 2018, we first launched our latest Big Bike collection in Manila Flagship Shop and Cebu Flagship shop, respectively,” Daiki Nihara, President of Honda Philippines, Inc. told Malaya Business Insight.

“However, since we consider Davao as one of the important markets, we also see the value of showcasing our latest Honda Big Bikes collection to the Dabawenyo public, here, in our flagship store,” he confirmed.

The new showroom launched early last month is expected to excite motorcycle enthusiasts in the region as it highlights a new feature to the flagship store. As a premium hub for Honda’s growing community, this modern-design showroom was built in partnership with Desmark Corporation, one of the leading motorcycle dealership of Honda.

“Our medium term plan is in full swing as we open these new concept dealerships,” Daiki Nihara, President of Honda Philippines, Inc told Malaya Business Insight.

“We target the opening of these flagship dealerships to show our strength but we continue to open our regular dealers and service centers in many locations all over the country. The strategy of the Big Bike Showroom is to attract all kinds of buyers and see what we have in store for them. It is also to make riders dream of our big bikes like the adventure bike, (the) Africa,” continues.

Covering approximately 6,960 square meters, the Davao showroom features an extensive, multi-rack display of Honda products, a well-appointed riders’ lounge, and a test ride area. These features are intended to showcase Honda’s cutting-edge motorcycles, innovative power products, and genuine spare parts.

HPI will also be hosting the Happy Honda Days activities at the Manila, Cebu and Davao Flagship Shops to invite more riders to visit and experience the shops’ offerings and give back. The activity already started last March 2 and will include free learn-to-ride and test ride sessions of Honda’s motorcycle models, as well as refreshments, games and giveaways.

HPI SENDS OFF PINOY BIKE RACER TO INTERNATIONAL RACE. To make good on its desire to have a Filipino at the MotoGP, HPI officially sent off international rider Troy Alberto to Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup (ATC) and the Honda Thai Talent Cup, premier international races in the Asian region that use the Honda NSF250R, a bike made especially for racing.

Troy is the son of veteran motocross and road racer Toti Alberto.

The only Filipino selected to take part in ATC, Alberto completed a series of try-outs last August 2017 and begun with test races in Malaysia last February 19 to 20. The race, which will run for several months, will have six rounds and will be held in various locations including Thailand, Japan, and Qatar and which began last weekend.

Alberto also qualified for the Thai Talent Cup, and will begin competing in April. The races aim to hone racers that will eventually compete at the Motorcycle Grand Pix or MotoGP.

“We  believe in helping young, talented racers like Alberto by providing them a training ground to hone their skills and propel them to the most prestigious international competitions,” Mihara said.

“This is a great opportunity to take the flag and make the country proud. I am glad that Honda has taken notice of Filipino talent in racing, specially in motorcycles. There are a lot of good racers in many fields like motocross and trail riding” Alberto said.

Alberto’s introduciton coincided with the upgrade of the new new Big Bike Showroom in Makati. This flagship brings to three the number of high end showrooms for Honda motorcycles and also highlights the latest collection of Honda Big Bikes.

“These new bikes are designed especially for thrill seekers and adventurers who require tough and heavy-duty motorcycles with bigger engine displacements. They are also made to deliver the speed and performance, suited for highway cruising and taking on rough terrains,” Mihara concluded. –RGBT
