THE Judicial and Bar Council yesterday
deferred voting on the shortlist of candidates to the Supreme
Court to study the motions for reconsideration filed by
Solicitor General Agnes Devanadera and former BIR Commissioner
Jose Mario Buñag.
On Monday last week, the eight-man JBC
disqualified Devanadera and Buñag due to pending cases, but said
they could be considered for future vacancies if they are
cleared by investigating agencies.
JBC records showed Devanadera was among the
respondents for alleged violation of the Anti-Plunder Act in
relation to Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act involving Poro
Point Special Economic and Freeport Zone. The case was filed
with the Office of the Ombudsman by the then Ilocos Sur Gov.
Luis "Chavit" Singson.
