Mikey taunts Joe de V
‘Why hide under skirt of GMA?’
BY WENDELL VIGILIA
REP. Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo (Lakas,
Pampanga) yesterday denied the claim of Speaker Jose de
Venecia that President Arroyo still supports his
leadership, saying his mother will not meddle in a
purely internal House matter.
"Why is JDV hiding under PGMA’s
skirt?" he asked.
The presidential son said that while
he was not present during De Venecia’s "supposed"
meeting with the President on Thursday, he said his
mother "will respect the difference between the
Executive and the Legislative branches of the
government."
Tanay ‘boys’ resist try
to
bodily carry them to court
BY VICTOR REYES
THE arraignment of seven officers
accused of attempting to grab power from government in
February 2006 was stalled anew yesterday.
The military said four of the officers
– Maj. Gen. Renato Miranda, Colonels Ariel Querubin and
Orlando de Leon, and Lt. Col. Nestor Flordeliza – resisted
being brought to Camp Aguinaldo from Camp Capinpin in
Tanay, Rizal where they are detained.
But lawyer Rodrigo Artuz said Querubin
has flu and bronchitis while De Leon’s blood pressure was
up.
MALACAÑANG yesterday confirmed there is a
move to appoint Cristina Ponce Enrile, estranged wife of Sen.
Juan Ponce Enrile, as ambassador to the Vatican.
But Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said he was
not aware if Ambassador Leonida Vera has resigned as reported.
Archbishop Angel Lagdameo said the Catholic
Bishops Conference of the Philippines, of which he is the
president, received a letter from Vera informing the CBCP of her
resignation. She gave no reason.
