Alleged terrorist’s ma
files case vs PNP chief

THE mother of Ricardo Perez Ayeras, 33, who was arrested in connection with the Valentine’s Day bombing of 2005, has filed criminal charges before the Ombudsman against PNP director general Oscar Calderon, intelligence chief Romeo Ricardo and the arresting officers who took in Ayeras in Tagkawayan, Quezon last Jan. 3.

Pacita Ayeras said her son was never implicated by Gappal Bannah alias Boy Negro, another suspect in the bombing, in his sworn statement which linked Abu Sayyaf leaders to the incident. She also belied that her son was affiliated with another terrorist group, the Rajah Solaiman Islamic Movement, and said the police were only after the P1 million reward money being offered by the US government for the arrest of terrorist Abdul Kareem Ayeras.

PNP spokesman Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao said the PNP is ready to face the charges. – Raymond Africa
