2 armed robberies in QC

TWO separate armored van robberies occurred yesterday in Quezon City, resulting in the relief of QCPD Station 10 commander Supt. Asprinio Cabula who has jurisdiction over the Timog district where robbers struck at the armored van parked in front of the Union Bank along Tomas Morato.

The first robbery happened at around 9:15 a.m. when some eight armed men on board four motorcycles took off with a still undetermined amount of money being loaded onto an armored van by personnel of a security agency and Anson’s Supermart at the corner of Molave and Narra streets in Barangay Quirino 3A.

The second incident took place two hours later when another group of armed robbers on a Starex van and a Toyota Revo struck at another armored van along Tomas Morato.

PNP chief Director General Avelino I. Razon ordered NCRPO chief Director Geary L. Barias to investigate the heist and ordered Cabula placed on floating status for negligence. He warned other station commanders of the same fate if they let their guard down. "Station commanders should supervise the streets at hindi sila nandoon lang lagi sa kanilang mga opisina," Razon said.

Razon said the public may expect more checkpoints to check the movements of criminals, especially those riding tandem on a motorcycle. – Raymond Africa
