THE Red Cross Youth (RCY) recently held the re-launching of
new "RCY Star Volunteers" and "Pledge 25" at the Philippine
National Red Cross National Headquarters. The Red Cross (PNRC)
family welcomes "Pinoy Big Brother Season 2" (or "PBB")
housemates Geean Abrahan, Bea Saw, Wendy Valdez, Saicy Aguila,
Robert Woods, Bodie Cruz, Mickey Perz, Dionne Monsanto, Mikee
Lee and Bruce Quebral and "Pinoy Dream Academy" scholars Ronnie
Liang, Irish Fullerton, Panky Trinidad and Yeng Constantino. It
is part of the intensification drive of the RCY to get more TV
personalities involved with Red Cross activities to help
advocate the causes of the organization especially about youth
volunteerism and blood donation.
PNRC audio-visual presentation on "Pledge 25" of the Davao
Chapter was played to orient the new volunteers on the PNCR
Services and voluntary blood donation. Roxanne Barcello shared
her experiences as RCY volunteer while Candy Pangilinan, hosted
the program and provided humor to the otherwise serious
atmosphere and shared her testimony in serving the people in
Payatas. Ella Guevarra, endorser of Fund Generation was also
present.
PNRC chairman Dick Gordon as the keynote speaker shared his
thought: "The pursuit of happiness is founded on the path of
service."
He inspired the new volunteers to be the image models that
the other youths are gifts of God and serving the humanity
through the Red Cross is a way of giving back to the Almighty."
Afterwards, the celebrities recited the Red Cross Youth
Pledge led by Gov. Rosa Rosal. It was followed by the signing of
their "Dedication of Commitment" as full-pledge Red Cross Youth
Star Volunteers, to serve the organization in their capacity as
celebrities and to advocate the mission of Red Cross.
Due to time constraint, only four out of the 14 new star
volunteers were able to donate blood, while the rest promised to
return to also do their part.
