TV host-comedian and master lyricist Joey de
Leon is back with "Joey to the World Vol. 2," his follow-up to
the highly successful major label debut released in 2004.
Like the first volume which spawned hits like
"Pa Epek Epek" and "Canton," the album consists of parodies and
wacky adaptations of very popular OPM songs from today’s most
popular bands and solo artists.
If features "Amoy" (Cueshé’s "Stay"), "Hikaw
Lang" ("Ikaw Lang" by Chad Borja), "Maliit na Syota" and "Singkit
na Pag-Ibig" ("Maling Akala" and "Lintik" by Brownman Revival),
"Itlog" and "Sexy" (from 6cyclemind’s "Sige" and "Sandalan"), "Namputsa"
(Ariel Rivera’s "Sa Aking Puso"), "Not So Hot" ("Hot na Hot" by
Barako Boys) and the much sought-after "Ulam" (Cueshé’s "Ulan").
It also includes two original Joey de Leon
compositions— "Tawa" and the now popular Eat Bulaga favorite "Itaktak
Mo."
With this album, Joey de Leon again pays
homage to the humble beginnings of TVJ (Tito, Vic and Joey) with
their funny takes they do during the ‘70s on particular lines on
hit songs from the era.
"Joey to the World" came into fruition when
after the comedian did a special appearance in the "Sexbomb
Girls’ "Ispageti" recording as the spirited character T’yo Pot.
The album was so successful and controversial
(especially to moralists and other ultra-conservative blocs)
that it was certified Gold in just over a month and platinum on
its third month of release.
Of course, it will never be "Joey to the
World" without the miniature figure of Joey as a naughty angel
answering the call of nature (in a different way) on top of
Mother Earth on the CD cover.
"Joey to the World Vol. 2" is now available at leading record
stores under Sony BMG Music Entertainment and is being presented
in cooperation with PLDT Budget Card. For more information, log
