Another Felicidad Sy Children’s Wellness
Center was inaugurated and turned over by SM Foundation Inc. to
the Valenzuela General Hospital. The whole pediatric ward of the
hospital including its hallways and comfort rooms were renovated
and provided with equipment and furniture.
The four-room ward is composed of an
adolescent room for patients aged 13 and above; miscellaneous
room for non-infectious illness; isolation room and
gastro-enteritis room for diarrhea patients. Murals were done to
create a therapeutic environment for the sick children. Included
in the agreement is the yearly maintenance of the ward including
upgrading of equipment.
Connie Angeles, SM Foundation, Inc. executive
director said renovation of the ward is one of the priority
projects of the foundation. It aims to ease the burden of both
patients and the hospital staff. Angeles says it was done to
uplift the well-being of communities that surround the SM malls
and provide the community with access to proper health and
medical care. Dr. Asuncion Anden, DOH regional director accepted
the donation together with Dr. Mario Panay, director of the
hospital. Dr. Panay said this is in line with the effort of the
DOH to promote preventive health care in cooperation with the
private sector.
Representing the foundation during the
turn-over ceremonies were Debbie Sy, executive director of the
SM Foundation, Connie Angeles, director for Medical and Health
Services, Carmen Linda Atayde, director for education. Receiving
the donation were Dr. Mario Panay, Dr. Hiyasmin Lim, head of the
Pediatrics of the hospital.
