"When I read the script, sabi ko kaagad, I'll do it."- Regine Velasquez

Regine stars in drama show
for first salvo as Kapamilya

NOW it can be told that Regine Velasquez will sign a contract with ABS-CBN anytime now. Her appearance last Sunday in GMA-7's "SOP," where she is a mainstay, was reportedly her last.

No wonder that most of her fellow regulars in the noontime show were crying with her, while they were singing their final number.

Actually, it was Regine who first burst into tears while she was singing "I'll Never Love This Way Again," followed by "On My Own."

We heard that Regine would have wanted to bid her "SOP" fans goodbye on the air. Wonder if it's true that an "SOP" top gun didn't allow her to.

We also heard that Regine will be given her own musical show by ABS-CBN.

For her first salvo as a Kapamilya, Regine will do an episode in "Maalaala Mo Kaya," to be aired on Friday, which will pair her with Albert Martinez for the first time. Regine and Albert play sweethearts in their younger days. When they parted ways, there was no closure in their relationship.

When after many years they met again, they are both married and have their own families. But after several meetings they realized that the feelings they both nurtured for each other in the past have remained intense.

"It's a good and challenging role," said Regine. "When I read the script, sabi ko kaagad, I'll do it."

Of Regine, Jeffrey Jeturian, who is directing her for the first time, stated: "She's truly an enigmatic actress. Even in the way she delivers her lines, she has a certain style. Lalo't sa eksenang she poured out to her husband (played by Christian Vasquez) her being an unhappy wife to him."

The director, obviously happy with the partnership, added, "I'd like to work with her again. Perhaps, on the big screen naman."

Actually, it's Regine's second time to appear in a "Maalaala Mo Kaya" episode. Her first was with Piolo Pascual, in an episode titled "Lobo," (yes, the same title of the current teleserye of Piolo and Angel Locsin) which won her a best actress trophy from the Star Awards for TV.

Sen. Bong Revilla feels bad that he wasn't able to attend his good friend Sen. Jinggoy Estrada's birthday celebration at the Big Leaf in Fort Mckinley, Fort Bonifacio recently.

His wife, Lani Mercado, according to Sen. Bong, had to rush him to the hospital on Valentine's Day. "Nakaramdam ako ng kakaibang chest pain," the senator-actor said.

He was immediately asked to submit to an angiogram. Happily, his doctor declared him clear of any heart ailment.

But he is asked to take several medicines.

"Mabuti mahusay na nurse si Lani," Sen. Bong smiled. "Personal niyang inaasikaso ang pag-inom ko ng gamot."

Did "Pinoy Dream Academy" (PDA) runner-up Jay-R Siaboc really attempt to co-mmit suicide, all because of his deep love for fellow "PDA" housemate, Irish Fullerton?

Jay-R reportedly got jealous when he discovered in Irish's MySpace account that she's still in touch with her American boyfriend.

Irish was born and reared in the US by a Filipino mom and American father. She came home to the Philippines purposely to join the "PDA."

Since like Jay-R, she emerged runner-up in the finals, ABS-CBN constantly guests her in several of their shows. She was featured in the teleserye, "Princess Sarah."

Jay-R would have hung himself to death. Fortunately, a cousin saw him and stopped him from ending his young life.

Since the "PDA" ended, Jay-R has been appearing in one ABS-CBN TV show after another. He is currently in the cast of "Palos."
