Weight dissatisfaction
major issue for urbanites

Everyone’s joining the 100 percent club.

No, this club isn’t devoted to a hobby nor is it a status-boosting organization—it pertains to the full 100 percent of urban achievers who are seeking to either lose or gain weight. In an independent consultation commissioned by Ayala Land’s Community Innovations which sought to outline the fitness profile of the typical city dweller, it was found that 63 percent of the currently employed urban achievers want to lose weight while the remaining 37 percent want to gain weight.

"We spearheaded this consultation because we recognize the benefits of exercise, especially for urbanites who make a living in the corporate arena," says Iris Josef, vice president for project development of Community Innovations. She points to findings by top universities in the United States which show that exercise fuels a 15 percent increase in work productivity resulting in excellent work quality, increased mental performance and efficient time management.

Yet the numerous benefits of exercise are overshadowed by a number of factors which include: lack of time, added expenses incurred, and boredom. The Community Innovations consultation discovered that three out of 10 urbanites did not exercise because of lack of time, making it a primary obstacle. In addition, males were found to be less likely to spend for exercise whereas females needed more mental motivation.

"With the results that we found, it’s clear that while urban achievers would want to take the initiative towards a fit lifestyle—in fact a full 100 percent want to do so – they are hindered by several obstacles which we in Community Innovations want and can actually do something about," says Iris Josef.

Community Innovations’ move towards rallying behind the concept of fitness-fueled lifestyle has given birth to The Columns Legazpi Village and its Fitness Hub, the largest condo-based gym of its kind.

"The data we gathered stressed the need for a fitness facility where people can maximize their time and can exercise at their utmost convenience. In addition, it has to offer a variety of activities that will not bore and instead challenge urbanites. Of course, all these should be attained at a reasonable price. And we are proud to say that our development responds to all these," says Josef.

The Fitness Hub occupies almost 2000-square meters of space with a wide range of activity offerings, premium-grade exercise equipment, ample jogging trails and an extensive pool area.
