Canlubang extends lead to 11

BACOLOD City. — Canlubang scored 144 points to open up an 11-point spread over Luisita after Friday’s second round of the Philippine Airlines Interclub Seniors tournament here.

Dave Hernandez, Canlubang’s new recruit, toured the par-70 Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club course with 50 points, a four-over 74 in regulation, to pace the Sugar Barons, who cruised to a 289 total.

That was 11 ahead of Luisita and 17 ahead of Manila Golf.

Tony Olives had 49 and Bing Bunyi scored 45 in the four-to-play, three-to-count format. Lino Magpantay had a 44.

"We were hoping to lead by 15 points to make sure. We are not yet pulling away but just inching closer to our target–a three peat in the championship division," said Canlubang team captain Luigi Yulo.

"Sayang, marami akong missed birdie putts," said Hernandez, a former Putra Cup campaigner and an ex-professional

Francis Gaston had a 52 to boost Luisita to a second-round 141 and a 278 total.

Bong Sison came through with 46 markers while King Sumulong added 43 for Luisita.

Manila Golf scored a 129 and slipped down to third place with 273.
