Delasin running 5th


KAPOLEI, Hawaii. — Jeong Jang bogeyed her first hole but went on to sink nine birdies for an eight-under-par 64 and a two-shot lead after Thursday’s opening round of the $1.3 million Fields Open.

"I missed a three-foot putt (on) the first hole, and that woke me up," said the South Korean, who birdied three of the final five holes.

"I hit really good tee shots today and the putting is really good, so everything was really good."

Paula Creamer birdied five of her first nine holes en route to a six-under 66 to take second spot while Kelli Kuehne and Angela Stanford had 67s to share third place.

Fil-American Dorothy Delasin fired a 68 and shared fifth spot with Se Ri Pak, among others.

Jennifer Rosales of the Philippines had a 71 and was tied for 46th.

Michelle Wie birdied four of her first five holes en route to a three-under 69 and a share of 16th place.
