The Peacock Garden Luxury Resort and Spa recently opened in
Laya, Baclayon, Bohol.
The P200 million, 10-hectare estate boasts of 40 rooms, an
infinity pool, a Roman-inspired spa, spacious dining rooms and a sprawling
garden.
Every room offers comfort and convenience with unique art and
accents, high-quality fittings, cable television, and Internet connection.
The new leisure destination is owned by the family of German
Hans Schoof and his Boholana wife, Lani.
"We wanted to leave a legacy in Bohol. Boholanos have been
very accommodating to me," Schoof , who has been staying in Bohol for 22 years
now, said.
When he bought a hill-top property in Baclayon, he planned to
open a world-class resort catering to foreign tourists, but open to Boholanos.
"I want Boholanos to experience a different world once they come in to The
Peacock Garden," Hans added.
Tourism secretary Ace Durano said that this new resort would
employ many Boholanos.
The opening of the Peacock Garden makes the Baclayon
highlands a potential haven for more upscale resorts.
Schoof said that the major attraction of The Peacock
Garden is its fine dining restaurant.
Old Heidelberg restaurant is replete with photos of Jose
Rizal in Germany and other memorabilia.
To emphasize the glory and splendor of the German motif, Hans
hired a Bavarian executive chef to complete the culinary experience of the
discriminating palate of the guests.
Durano added that other projects are being undertaken in the
island.
"There is the Bellevue Resort project, then the owner of Boracay Regency will
put up Bohol Regency. Bohol is becoming one of the country's top tourist
destination," Durano said.
