CAN one man beat 100 enemies? In a popular
game show, it’s possible. Now, get ready to experience the most
horrifying scenario when a man faces a hundred evil in this
year’s scariest movie, "The Flock." The first English language
film from noted Hong Kong director Andrew Lau ("Infernal
Affairs"), it stars Golden Globe winner Richard Gere ("Chicago")
as a hyper-vigilant agent who tracks down convicted sex
offenders and paroled criminals. "The role fits perfectly to
Gere," says Lau.
Born in Philadelphia, Gere showed his artist
ability at a young age, by playing a number of instruments and
writing music for high school productions. He won gymnastics
scholarship to the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, where
he was philosophy major. While at school, Gere was bitten by the
acting bug and left college after two years, landing a lead role
of Danny Zuko in the London production of the rock musical
"Grease" in 1973. His motion picture debut came in 1978 with
Oscar-honored "Days of Heaven," for which he received the
Italian equivalent of the Academy Award.
Also known worldwide for being a
humanitarian, Gere is undoubtedly one of the most respected
actors in Hollywood today. His long list of film credits include
"An Officer and a Gentleman," "American Gigolo," "Pretty Woman,"
"First Knight," "Primal Fear," "The Jackal," "Unfaithful," and
many others. Off screen, Gere is an accomplished pianist, music
writer, photographer, and executive producer. And for over 20
years, as a friend of His Holiness and Dalai Lama, he has made
numerous journeys throughout India, Nepal, Zanskar, Tibet,
Mongolia, and China.
With shocking scenes guaranteed to engage audience in a
terrifying race against time, "The Flock" raises a variety of
questions about disturbing and complex issues, all centered in
human violence and evaluation of extreme evil. The movie also
has Claire Danes ("Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines") as
Gere’s protégé who must learn the ropes while keeping her mentor
on the right side of the law and sanity. Hottest pop punk singer
Avril Lavigne completes the main cast. The film opens today,
February 27 in several theaters nationwide.
