Milo summer sports clinics begin

THE Milo-sponsored 2008 Summer Sports Clinics opens anew to provide kids the scientific training in different sports disciplines aside from helping them develop values that would guide them both inside and outside the sporting arena.

Now on its 26th year, the clinics will be held from March to May to teach kids the basics of badminton, basketball, bowling, chess, football, gymnastics, ice skating, karatedo, lawn tennis, muay, swimming, taekwondo and volleyball in a unique, fun-filled, and scientific manner.

Highly-trained and experienced coaches will be supervising each internationally-accepted program to make sure trainees develop to their full potential.

Aside from learning how to play, the clinics will also help kids develop character-forming values like discipline, teamwork, self-confidence, leadership, resilience and fair play.

The Milo Summer Sports Clinics have bred champions in different fields, including Paola Obanana in badminton, Paolo Mendoza, Patrick Fran and Larry Fonacier in basketball, Olympian Bea Lucero and Southeast Asian Games medalists Tammy de Guzman and Roel Ramirez in gymnastics, Grandmaster Mark Paragua in chess, Davis Cupper Johnny Arcilla in tennis and Japoy Lizardo in taekwondo.

According to Nestlé AVP and Milo sports events executive Pat Goc-ong, the Summer Sports Clinics demonstrates the commitment of Milo to promote sports and discover and nurture the country’s next champions.
