"As it is, Angel was quickly replaced by Marian
Rivera who, as fate would have it, is now the one playing 'Dyesebel.''' |
A lesson for Angel
J OLO Revilla
is glad that he's work-ing with the object of his affection, Lovi Poe, in
GMA-7's new Sine Novela, "Kaputol ng Isang Awit," where he plays Marco, an
amorous marketing and PR man desperately in love with Joanna, played by Lovi.
But he says he felt bad when a rumor circulated that he's trying to convince
Lovi to elope with him. As a result, Lovi now has plenty of chaperones on the
set, including her aunt, sister of her mom who got scared that they might indeed
elope.
"Masakit 'yung accusations sa'kin na itatanan ko
siya at bubuntisin ko lang daw," he says. "I've already learned my lesson
and I know na 'yong mistake ko then, hindi dapat sundan ng
another mistake. I have no such intention at all of doing that to Lovi.
Masakit dahil pati pamilya ko nadadamay. Kesyo porke Revilla raw
ako, ma-chicks ako like my lolo and my dad. Hindi naman po ako
ganoon.
Jolo went on to explain further. "Isa pa, I'm not
in a hurry na sagutin niya ako since she's only 19 and I'm 20. We're both
more focused on our showbiz careers and also on our college studies dahil
pareho pa kaming nag-aaral. Also, we still have to get to know each other
better and I'm glad dahil lagi kaming magkakasama sa set ng
'Kaputol ng Isang Awit' and this is a good chance para mas makilala pa namin
lalo ang isa't isa. I respect Lovi so much and I assure her mom na wala
akong gagawin sa kanyang masama," he says.
Lovi, on the other hand, says she trusts Jolo. "He has a
mature way of thinking and I know he won't do something na puwede naming
pagsisihan later," she says. "To his credit, he's willing to wait dahil
I told him na hindi pa ako puedeng mag-commit into a serious
relationship."

Marian Rivera is elated to be the first "Dyesebel" on TV.
This enduring tale of a beautiful mermaid, which started with Edna Luna in the
Gerry de Leon 1953 big screen version, will start on March 17 after "Marimar"
ends on March 14 with a special live telecast.
"Panay ang training ko ngayon sa swimming
kasi I don't want to use a double for my underwater scenes," she says.
And because her team up with Dingdong Dantes was such a hit
in "Marimar," Dingdong will again play her leading man in "Dyesebel," the role
of Fredo originated by the late Jaime de la Rosa. Joyce Bernal will direct them
once again.
Marian will really be very busy as she is also the personal
choice of Dolphy to be the leading lady in the first movie he's doing with Vic
Sotto. This will be a co-production of Vic's own M-Zet Productions, Dolphy's RVQ
Productions and APT Entertainment of Tony Tuviera, to be directed by Tony Reyes
who directs all Vic's movies, including the hit "Enteng Kabisote" franchise.
"I'm excited to work with the country's two top comedy
kings," Marian gushes.

Singer-comedienne Rubirubi shone last year stealing all her
scenes in the horror flick "Hide and Seek." She's now making her second movie, "Manay
Po 2: Overload" and she plays an intriguing role as a sexy star named Summer
Rain. "Ako ang pagseselosan dito ni Cherry Pie Picache and she'd think
Rubirubi performs exclusively at Mon Confiado's 22nd St. in
Cainta and Las Piñas. But she'll now do a concert at Zirkoh Greenhills with the
Boyz.Com. Will she try to make a pass at the boys like Ai Ai de las Alas when
she performs with younger men?
"Why not? Fabulous naman lahat ang members ng
Boyz.Com kaya okay lang hipuan ko sila."
How does she find each of them? "Polo Ravales is the leading
man type who's really hunky. Wow, ang gaganda ng muscles. Joseph
Bitangcol is the silent type na akala mo shy, pero may itinatagong
landi. Si Frank Garcia naman, tipong sosyal but he can be naughty
also.
Astig talaga.
Watch na lang kayo kung ano ang gagawin ko sa kanila during our show.
audience."
Their concert, "Rubirubi@Boyz.com," will be shown this
Saturday at Zirkoh Greenhills, 9 p.m. For tickets, call DMV Entertainment at
415-0373 or 374-1361 or 0917-453-2427.

Gemma Fitzgerald of the Koolchx wants to correct what we
wrote earlier that she's going steady with AJ Dee. "We broke up after a year of
being on," she says. "After a while, he wants to patch things up. He sends me
flowers, he texts me everyday, pero ayoko na."
She says she can feel her love for him has lessened a lot as
she got hurt when they had an LQ (lovers quarrel) before their split. "There
were things that were said that should not have been mentioned at all. I
invested so much in the relationship. I didn't go back to my parents in
Australia just to be with him. I'm like that kasi. When I'm in love, I
give my all," she reveals. "The conflict we had was some sort of a wake up call
for me. So now, I want to rest muna and rediscover myself. I want to
focus solely on my career and on the work of our group as Koolchx."
Gemma doesn't want to go into the details of their fight
anymore. She clears, "I'm not angry with him. I have nothing against him. He
works hard, but I really just want to give my heart a rest."

Hazel Ann Mendoza is one of those good girls gone bad,
displaying her form unabashedly for a men's mag like FHM. "I started as a child
star in 'Ang TV' when I was only 7 years old," she says. "As a teen star, I did
only pa-tweetums roles. Noon pa may offer sa 'kin to do
sexy pictorials but I felt hindi ko kaya. Now that I'm managed by Manny
Valera, he made me realize that to be competitive in showbiz, you can't forever
just stick to a sweet image. You have to be more adventurous, kaya doing
this sexy pictorial for FHM with Nina Jose is a new adventure for me. Feeling
ko while Nina and I were doing the photo shoot, para ka-ming models
ng Victoria's Secret."
This is also part of her effort to project a more mature
image. She was last seen on ABS in "Gulong ng Palad" then she moved to GMA and
did "Kung Mahawi Man ang Ulap" in a villain role. She was linked to Mhyco Aquino
when they did "Qpids" on ABS but she now denies they were once steady. "Ni
wala na akong balita sa kanya dahil wala na siya sa showbiz," she adds. "As
of now, wala akong love life at all."
On March 6, she and Nina Jose will do a radio tour of five
stations to promote their FHM pictorial. On March 7, they will be at the
Robinsons Galleria Movieworld lobby from 5 to 8 p.m. to sign autographs. They
will also participate in "Rubirubi@Boyz.Com" concert at Zirkoh Greenhills this
Saturday at 9 p.m., with Hazel doing a ballroom number and Nina, a Britney
Spears number.

Here's an email from reader Mila T. Uychico: "If Angel Locsin
were still on GMA-7, she would have been the ideal 'Dyesebel' as she's really a
champion swimmer. Too bad she made the wrong decision of leaving GMA-7. Now, her
'Lobo' is not rating that well, proving that it's the projects that GMA-7 cooked
for her that did well, not her as its star. Dapat maging leksiyon ito to
all other stars who think they've become so big that they can be big anywhere.
As you said in one of your past columns, no one is indispensable. As it is,
Angel was quickly replaced by Marian Rivera who, as fate would have it, is now
the one playing 'Dyesebel.' This should also be a lesson for Angel's manager who
already said sorry to GMA's Wilma Galvante. If Angel's 'Lobo' rated very highly,
we doubt if she'd try her best to reconcile with the GMA boss. Also, she has
other talents now like Joross Gamboa, etc.
The letter is quite long but we have to edit it due to space
constraints. Anyway, we get the message clearly Mila.
