Manila Water installs new 2,294 connections

Manila Water Co. has reported a total of 2,294 new water service connections in the third quarter of the year that benefited and provided clean and potable water to some 4,711 households in the east zone.

The Ayala-led water utility firm said that 2,294 of the newly-installed water service connections belonged to domestic or residential customers while 60 were for commercial consumers.

To date, Manila Water said that it has already installed a total of 889,448 water service connections to more than 6.2 million consumers in eastern Metro Manila and several towns of Rizal Province.

“It is Manila Water’s commitment to provide each and every resident of the East Zone with 24/7 safe and affordable water, especially those belonging to the marginalized sector who had difficulty gaining greater access to water services in the past,” said Gerardo C. Ablaza Jr., president and CEO of Manila Water. “Since we started in 1997, an additional 3.2 million residents of the East Zone have been connected to our network and more significantly, 1.7 million of these, or more than one-half of the those given new water services, came from low-income communities,” Ablaza added.
