Search for Miss Casino Filipino 2012 is on

On its second year, PAGCOR’s nationwide search for Miss Casino Filipino gets grander.

Bong Quintana, PAGCOR’s Assistant VP for Entertainment, said the nationwide beauty tilt “is PAGCOR’S way of paying tribute to the admirable roles that Filipinas play in our society today. She is someone who is beautiful inside and out, someone who emulates and embodies the positive values and virtues of Filipinos.”

Quintana said Miss Casino Filipino 2012 is open to single Filipinas 18 to 25 years old who are multi-talented, beautiful and has a heart for service. They will be asked to submit a statement describing their Filipina role model and how their Filipina icon has influenced or changed their lives. “This is our way of honoring the modern-day Filipina who is no longer just confined to her home. She is someone who speaks her mind, is socially aware and tries to make a difference in her community in her own way,” he added.

Besides giving a brief description of their Filipina icons, contestants will also be required to share the advocacy or social cause closest to their hearts. “They can choose any advocacy such as education, health, environment, poverty eradication, etc. What makes the Miss Casino Filipino distinct from other beauty pageants is the inclusion of the contestants’ advocacies. It is a manifestation of the contestants’ commitment to be of service to others, especially to the less privileged,” Quintana cited.

The prizes at stake for this year’s search are higher. “Miss Casino Filipino 2012 will receive P500,000 in cash prize, higher than the P300,000 we gave to last year’s title holder. Miss Casino Filipino 2012 will also have a chance to choose a charitable institution that will receive a donation of P200,000.”

The runners-up will receive the following: P400,000 (1st runner-up), P300,00 (2nd runner-up), P200,000 (3rd runner-up) and P100,000 (4th runner-up).

Apart from bigger cash prizes, deserving winners and contestants will have a chance to work in PAGCOR and Casino Filipino.

Last year, 28 grand finalists vied for the Miss Casino Filipino 2011 title. Catrine Rosary Ocampo, a 5’8 stunner from Quezon City won as the first Miss Casino Filipino.

“It was a great honor to be crowned as the first Miss Casino Filipino. I am thankful that PAGCOR gave me the opportunity to serve the community and be able to promote my advocacy for education,” she said.

The contestants will be judged according to their intelligence (20%), poise and elegance (20%), beauty (35%) and over-all impact (25%). Regional screenings will be held in PAGCOR’S casino branches in Bacolod, Cebu, Davao, Angeles, Olongapo, Tagaytay and Metro Manila from October 1 to October 28, 2012.
