In the name of love

Jen Mercado and Nikki Gil appear gratis et amore in the movie of their boyfriends.

IT IS Aga Muhlach’s third win as best actor for his movie in 2011, “In the Name of Love,” when PASADO, an awards giving body composed of academicians, hands him again a best actor trophy at their Gawad-Parangal on April 28 at the Angelicum College, beside the Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon City.

Other awardees, also for “In the Name of Love,” produced by Star Cinema, are Olivia Lamasan, best director, Angel Locsin, who, by the way, tied up the best actress trophy with Anne Curtis for her performance in “No Other Woman;” Enrico Santos and Olivia Lamasan, who also tied the award for best story with Kris Gazmen and Jay Fernando, also for “No Other Woman,” and Marya Ignacio, best movie editor.

“No Other Woman” was also produced by Star Cinema but with Viva Films as co-producer.

The best supporting actress trophy will be given to Bangs Garcia for “Segunda Mano,” another production of Star Cinema.

Jennylyn Mercado and Nikki Gil are both doing special appearances in the Viva Films movie, “Moron 5 and the Crying Lady.” And, obviously, all for love.

Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford, the loves of Jennylyn and Nikki, respectively, topbill “Moron 5.” The two play morons, along with Marvin Agustin, DJ Durano and Martin Escudero.

Nikki is, of course, a Kapamilya like Luis and Billy. Jennylyn is with GMA.

Also in the cast of the comedy movie, by blockbuster director Wenn Deramas, is John “Sweet” Lapus, who plays the crying lady.

Speaking of Luis, he denies he is running for Lipa City mayor in 2012.

The  position  was occupied by his mom, Batangas Governor Vilma Santos, for three terms.

But Luis is not discounting the possibility of turning politician. Not only because it is in his blood (his dad, Edu Manzano was formerly vice mayor of Makati), but he is inclined to it. Just like his parents, he wants to be of service to his fellowmen. His way of paying back, he added, for whatever success he and his family are enjoying now.

Right now, however, Luis said he wants to concentrate on his showbiz career. He is doing well in both his hosting and acting jobs. Currently, he is hosting the game show, “Deal or No Deal.”

Sundays, he co-hosts with Sarah Geronimo, the musical program, “Sarah G. Live.”

Right after the showing of “Moron 5” there are talks that he might also do a series for ABS-CBN.
