Dimsum house offers Asian treats

To be able to feast on genuine Chinese fare, you either have to brave Binondo or pay a hefty sum to dine in ritzy restaurants in Makati, Ortigas or Alabang. Su Zhou Dimsum is offering good eats in central metropolis without the hassle of doing both.

The dimsum house offers Shanghai and Taiwanese-inspired comfort food for the past four years now. It is operated by young Filipino-Chinese entrepreneurs who grew up in the food business.

A must taste is the xiao long pao, a unique appetizer with a soup broth encased in its siopao-like dough with thin slices of carrots to add a bit of crunch. Another house specialty is the steam-fried siopao sold under the Ah! Pao brand which remains soft throughout the day. Also available is the six-in-one tai pao made up of asado, bola-bola, salted egg, Chinese sausage, steamed chicken and shitake mushroom.

You can also sample the pan-fried kuchay and pork dumpling laced with ground pork mashed with chives and greens, or fish in tausi with hot tofu. There’s also a wide selection of rice bowls, such as the stir-fried fish fillet with mushroom and century egg, drunken chicken, and tender wuxi spare ribs.

Su Zhou Dim-sum is located at 837 A. Mabini St. corner Araullo St. Mandaluyong City and at The Promenade in Greenhills Shopping Center.
