‘Ryan has long wanted to follow his half-brother, Luis Manzano’s footsteps. But his mom and dad, former senator Ralph Recto, want him to focus on his studies first.’

Showbiz runs in the blood

BATANGAS Governor Vilma Santos’ younger son, Ryan Christian, has joined showbiz, too. The nine-year-old boy is now a mainstay of ABS-CBN’s comedy show, "Goin’ Bulilit," where the stars are mainly ABS-CBN’s very young talents.

Ryan has long wanted to follow his half-brother, Luis Manzano’s footsteps. But his mom and dad, former senator Ralph Recto, want him to focus on his studies first. Ryan Christian is an honor student at the De La Salle University.

By the way, do you know that it’s Governor Vi, no less, who helps Ryan with his assignments?

Ryan obviously got his mom’s permission for him to join showbiz on the condition that, no matter what, he’ll prioritize his studies.

Luis finished a course in Hotel and Restaurant Management, also at La Salle. His dad is actor and Optical Media Board chairman Edu Manzano.

It looks like the sexy star who swore she has never succumbed to cosmetic surgery, as she was said to be satisfied with her looks and physical attributes, has now decided to have a boob job.

And it compliments her body as she now looks even sexier. And the ad-ded bulge on her bosom is just right for the role assigned to her in her current project, which requires her to show more flesh and cleavage.

For his age, John Prats, 23, has invested his showbiz earnings to good use. I remember when I interviewed John a year ago when he proudly told me that he and his family owned a 10-door apartment near their old residence in Sta. Mesa, Manila. They had all the units rented, including their old house.

He laughed when we told him that the rental of the building is enough to support their family.

Just recently we read in a magazine that John and his family have a six-unit townhouse in a compound, also close to their house in Cainta, Rizal. All these units are for sale, two of which, in fact, have already been sold.

"The units are not of the same sizes," John was quoted saying. "May unit of small sizes, medium, and large. Para lahat ng klase ng buyers can be accommodated."

The Prats tapped a named architect and engineer to design and supervise the construction of the townhouses. They are more than satisfied with the results.

Come to think of it, isn’t Shaina Magdayao, John’s rumored girlfriend, into the same business? Shaina also owns an eight-door studio type apartment in Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City.

Kris Aquino refuses to compare her current teleserye, "Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara," with the two horror movies, "Feng Shui" and "Sukob," which she did for Star Cinema. Both movies, produced by Star Cinema and directed by Chito Roño, emerged as blockbusters at the box office.

The TV series "Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara" is an adaptation of the horror flick of the same title which Susan Roces produced and starred for her own movie firm, Rosas Productions in 1974.

Born on Feb. 14, 1972, Kris was only two years old when the original "Patayin …" was released.

"But I’d say that Kris is most fit to do the role I originally played. Although, iba siyempre ang approach niya sa role ni Barbara kaysa akin. As I said, itong ‘Patayin …’ ngayon is a series. ‘Yong ‘Patayin …’ ko was a movie," said Susan.

The people behind the TV series purposely created a role for Susan who feels grateful for her character in the teleserye.

A non-life character, Chelsea, the doll possessed by Ruth’s spirit, is introduced here and joins the cast of Jodi Sta. Maria-Lacson as Ruth, Albert Martinez as Fritz, Maja Salvador as Agnes, Jay-R Siaboc as Dale and child star Celine Lim as Karen.
