“Kung baga, prepa-rasyon ko na itong negos-yong ito when I decide to totally quit showbiz. Bagama’t sa ngayon, showbiz pa rin ang pag-ibig ko.” – Cogie Domingo

Young actor invests
in shopping mall

YOUNG actor Cogie Domingo adds a new title to his name: businessman. Together with his dad, human rights lawyer Rod Domingo, Cogie invested his savings in building One Greenhills Shopping Plaza located at the corner of Eisenhower and Annapolis Streets, Greenhills (just beside OB Montessori). The shopping center is a four-storey building filled with more or less 300 stalls that sell just about everything – clothes, shoes, perfumes, accessories, food and other basic items. A wet market is just beside it.

"We want, especially the Filipinos with lower income, to benefit most dito sa mall namin," said Cogie. "All the items na i-pagbibili sa mga stalls, my dad and I will make sure na pinakamababa ang presyo. Mga about 30 to 50% lower, kung ikukumpara sa ibang tiangge. Sabi nga, tutulong ka na rin lang, tumulong ka na ng husto."

Cogie will put up his own stall in one of the floors in the building. "I will sell car accessories. And, why not, fishballs, too. Kung baga, preparasyon ko na itong negosyong ito when I decide to totally quit showbiz. Bagama’t sa ngayon, showbiz pa rin ang pag-ibig ko."

Like Cogie, Atty. Domingo said he cannot see himself as a lawyer in the next few years. One day soon, he will have to retire. And putting up this mall, he proudly said, is the best investment he and Cogie could think of.

"Sabi nga, kumikita ka na, nakakatulong ka pa," Atty. Domingo stated.

One Greenhills Shopping Plaza will have its formal opening this January. Cogie made sure that his friends from showbiz are invited to the event.

Has he invited Lovi Poe, his supposed girlfriend? Cogie was asked.

"Natural naman," he quickly replied.

Cogie and Lovi play sweethearts in "Bakekang," a GMA-7 teleserye which has Sunshine Dizon playing the title role.

Do you know that it was Direk Chito Roño who broached the idea to Star Cinema managing director Malou Santos to reprise the series, "Agent X-44," which has been identified with former action star Tony Ferrer for more than 30 years now?

Explained Direk Chito: "Ewan, basta ang feeling ko, Vhong (whom he manages as a talent), is right for the role of Agent X-44 which Tony popularized.

"Aba, di n’yo naitatanong, tagahanga ako ni Tony in his time. Lahat yata ng pelikula niya where he portrayed Agent X-44, ay pinanood ko. There are about 14, ‘Agent X-44’ movies."

Tony shared, "Ako naman, when I was approached by Malou and she expressed an intention to make a movie inspired by ‘Agent X-44,’ ‘di ako nagdalawang-isip na pumayag. I don’t think the current generation knows me as the actor playing the role of Agent X-44. Now, after the release of this movie, kahit naman, siguro, papaano, maki-kilala na nila ako."

Tony, in real life, is the father of actress cum lifestyle columnist Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan. Her mom is former actress Imelda Ilanan who is now married to Ben Avanceña, son of Nini Avanceña. Nini is the daughter of the late RP president Manuel Quezon.

Maricel is now married to business consultant, Anthony Pangilinan. The couple has four children.

Tony has two children with former wife, Alice Crisostomo, a former beauty queen. The boy Falcom, is the younger between the two. Mutya, now in her early 30s, works in a multi-national company. He and Alice have long separated.

He has one child with the current love of his life.

Tony plays a cameo role in "Agent X44." Others in the cast are Mariel Rodriguez, Cass Ponti, Juliana Palermo, John Lapus, Mura and Pokwang. Director is Joyce Bernal.

"We shot for this movie for one whole year. Talagang binusisi kasi namin. Kaya, I’m sure, it’s all worth it. I cooperated completely with Direk Joyce, dahil bagong genre para sa akin ang pelikula. ‘Di langako dito nag-comedy, nag-action pa din ako. "Very contemporary din ang istorya ng movie. As an agent, I use iba-ibang gadgets na natitiyak ko na mai-impress ang mga manood, lalo na ang mga bata," stated Vhong.
