It’s business as usual
for GMA, says Bunye

THE Presidential Security Group went on red alert Tuesday afternoon following reports of another destabilization move against the Arroyo administration, but the Palace said it would be "business as usual."

PSG commander Brig. Gen. Romeo Prestoza said the red alert took effect 5 p.m. Tuesday. It will be lifted if proven there are no serious threats.

He said based on initial findings, the destabilization reports "appear to have basis."

Prestoza said it is possible the red alert status would be prolonged with the pending departure of the President for Davos in Switzerland on January 22 for the World Economic Forum.

He said it is normal practice to be on alert whenever the President is out of the country. It is also on January 22 that militants groups stage mass actions to commemorate the Mendiola massacre.

Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said the President is not concerned with the destabilization reports.

"You will note that the operations are business as usual in the Palace. The President is going about her normal activities… The President is focused on growing thee economy and confident that the situation is under control by the appropriate authorities," he said. – Jocelyn Montemayor
