DANCE experts converge for the 4th Independent Contemporary Dance Festival entitled Wifibody 4 until July 5 at different venues of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). The event is an initiative of the Contemporary Dance Network Philippines, CCP, National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the UP Dance Company in cooperation with Japan Foundation Manila and Steps Dance Studio.

One of the many highlights of the CCP’s 40th Anniversary, Wifibody 4 is the dynamic exchange of ideas between local and international artists, searching for dance’s unique voice in a fast-changing world.

Among the activities to be held during the festival include IndepenDance, featuring independent dance companies and choreographers – the cornerstone of contemporary dance in the Philippines; the new choreographers competition, third year of the competition for the solo-duet form, the personal vision of young choreographers; 2nd Step, presenting new works as the festival nurtures past competitors talent in its evolving artistry; In Focus, zooming in on dance groups and independent dance artists who deserve a closer look; Emerging Talent Showcase, emergent dance artists participate with their infectious energy and surprising choreography; Gala, the contemporary dance panorama that includes winners of contemporary dance competitions, major dance companies, and the prime movers of the Contemporary Dance Network Philippines; Uncensored bodies, breaking new ground to initiate, for the first time, a short dance film competition – in a pioneering display of dance on video works; Photo exhibit: The Dancing Body, the allure of the human body in captivating images that depict the history of contemporary dance in the Philippines; Plenary: Contemporary Dance Network Philippines, invitation to practitioners for mapping out the Contemporary Dance Network Philippines; and Contemporary Dance Workshops, deepening the experience of your evolving body in workshops by eminent contemporary dance practitioners.
