'I'm also glad your co-hosts like you na. 'Di ba sabi mo before, you felt that they didn't like you? - Kris Aquino'

Kris' revelations leave
John tongue-tied

THE plan to ruin Marian Rivera's reputation by circulating that video on the net showing her furious at a man who maltreated her backfired. The emails we get side with Marian, saying she's perfectly right in showing her indignation and not allowing anyone to treat her as a doormat. The guy circulating muck about Marian, who's said to be an Angel Locsin fan (and we doubt if Angel approves of what he's doing), will no doubt get madder as Marian just got an endorsement that was previously Angel's: Jag Jeans. At her launching as the new face of Jag for their Jag Black campaign, we asked Marian what she can say about the alleged new video footage being circulated by her detractor about her.

"Ayoko ng patulan 'yan, nasagot ko na yan noon," she says. "I don't feel I have to explain anything. Basta ang importante, alam kong wala akong ginagawang masama at ipinagtanggol ko lang ang sarili ko."

People say "Palaban pala si Marian ." How does she feel about this? "I guess totoo naman yun kasi if ever it would happen to me again, ganun pa rin ang gagawin ko. I don't regret na pinagsabihan ko siya. People I meet in public tell me: 'Tama ang ginawa mo. Dapat nga, sinapak mo pa.'"

What can she say to those who allege "na sinulot niya ang" Jag from Angel?

"I don't want to comment at all about Angel. My manager told me it was offered to us and he was the one na tumanggap nito. Basta ako, nagtatrabaho lang at masaya ako sa trabaho ko."

We asked Jag executives why they got Marian in place of Angel.

"Angel was with us for two years and her contract has expired," says marketing manager Dondi Manlulu. "We just want a new face."

"We want to bring Jag to the next level," says creative director Epoy Arcin. "Since fashion is dynamic, we want to move on. This is a different collection and we want to make it sexier, tougher, hotter, more high-end. We find Marian having a more sophisticated look, but still reachable to the masses. She's popular, in demand, at mukhang magtatagal ang career niya."

Billy Crawford came straight from the airport when ABS-CBN held a presscon last Friday to officially welcome him as a "Kapamilya."

"I'm very nervous," says Billy. "I lost my passport even before I got on the plane."

So why did he transfer from GMA-7 to ABS?

"It was Endemol that made arrangements with my management team, YPMP, in LA and I'm just following them. But Endemol and my management have no idea about the rivalry between the two top networks here. Sumusunod lang ako sa kanila but the important thing for me is it's always a pleasure to come back and be with my kapwa Filipinos, no matter which station I go to."

Because of this, he reportedly hurt the feelings of his former mentor and manager, Kuya Germs and Raul Laurente. "I don't mean to hurt anyone. I haven't talked to Kuya Germs or Tito Raul and I'd rather deal with them personally, face to face. Kuya Germs has always been and will always be a father to me. Si Tito Raul naman, I've known him since I was 5 years old. I honestly want them to be proud of me. When Endemol told me I will be hosting 'Pinoy Dream Academy,' which is like 'Star Academy' in France, I know it's a great show and I'd like to be a part of it. It's the biggest show now in France and I guested there once, then they asked me to teach choreography to their scholars. Here, I'll be hosting the 'Uber' part daily at 5:30 p.m. On weekends, I'll be a co-host of Toni Gonzaga and Nikki Gil."

Is it true that after his show, "Move," rated well on GMA-7, they offered him to do another show right away?

"That's true. But I wasn't available as I had to go back to the States to record a new album. When Endemol offered 'Pinoy Dream Academy' to me, I was free so I can do it now. Right after this, I have to go to France to promote my new album, then to the US."

What can he say to the accusation that he has no "utang na loob"?

"Utang na loob for me is very important. Parang someone gives you his hand and it's expected that you give your hand in return. Ako, hindi ko maibibigay lahat, but more important for me is respeto and I respect sina Kuya Germs."

Aside from PDA, he'll also be co-hosting "ASAP" every Sunday while he's here. Now that he's here, will he be willing to work with KC and court her again?

"I haven't seen KC for a long time and I never said I courted her or that I'll court her. It'd be nice if we'd get the chance to work together but it's all up to ABS."

"Showbiz Central" is celebrating its first anniversary the whole month of June. Last Sunday, host John Lapus had a special interview with Kris Aquino, who used to be the co-host of their rival show, "The Buzz." It's the birthday of Kris' first born, Josh, who she says now stands 5'10" and weighs 265 lbs. At Josh's party, John got to meet Kris' entire family, including her mom, President Cory Aquino, who's battling the big C. Kris is very warm to John who she first got to work with in "Today with Kris" 12 years ago.

"I'm so happy that my mom is improving," she says. "She's surviving the chemotherapy at mas may gana na siyang kumain. I'm thankful she's not in pain and I also want to thank all those who pray for her."

How's Josh's relationship with Baby James? "They're very close now. I can see how much Baby James loves his Kuya. I realized nga na dumating si Baby James para kung wala na ako at ang mommy ko, may mag-alaga sa kuya niya who's a special child. Si Josh din, tanggap na siya, unlike before na sabi, 'Mama, balik na siya, balik na.' Pinababalik siya sa tiyan ko."

How is she and husband James Yap?

"We really made an effort to strengthen our relationship. Wala akong masasabi sa suportang binibigay niya sa mommy ko."

In closing, Kris advised John to be more appreciative of what GMA-7 is doing for him. "Biruin mo, nagre-rate ang show n'yo, may sarili ka pang segment na pinag-uusapan ('Don't Lie to Me'). Binibigyan ka nila ng importansya at may bago ka pang show, 'Kim Sam Soon' (with Regine Velasquez), kaya dapat i-appreciate mo sila. I'm also glad your co-hosts like you. 'Di ba sabi mo before, you felt that they didn't like you?"

John was just tongue-tied with all the revelations made by Kris about him. We didn't realize he's not that appreciative of all the breaks GMA-7 was giving him.

Brothers Brian and Jolo Revilla took the "Lagla-gan" portion of "Don't Lie To Me." Brian took the lie detector test and Jolo was the one who got punished each time Brian lied to John Lapus. And whad-daya know? Five questions were asked and Brian lied four times, so coffee, cream, sugar and powdered tea were poured on poor Jolo.

The questions in which Brian lied are the following:

Mas matinik ka ba, Brian, sa chicks kaysa kay Jolo? He answered no.

(Jolo said the truth is he sticks to one, unlike Brian who has several girlfriends.)

You cried at the wedding of your sister Inah. Is it because you feel sad na naunahan ka pa niyang mag-asawa? He said no.

Was Lovi Poe not able to make it to Inah's wedding because may tampuhan sila ni Jolo? He said no.

Binawi mo ba ang expensive ring that you gave to Maui Taylor after you broke up with her? Again, he said no and was found lying.

The only question where he was telling the truth was: Mag-on na ba sina Lovi at Jolo? He said yes, confirming that the two are already going steady even if Lovi insists she is not yet committed to Jolo.

Rhian Ramos was interviewed by Raymond Gutierrez who congratulated her for winning two awards in the recently held 3rd "Asian Model Contest" in China. She won the "Ms. Vitality Award" and was one of the top ten models. "Nakakanerbiyos when we got there as the models from other countries, puro six footers," she says. "Parang ang pandak namin ng mga kasama ko compared to them. Pinagtatawanan kami noong una but during the actual contest, hindi na sila tumatawa kasi we got good feedback, lalo na at lagi raw kaming naka-smile."

Rhian is also happy that she was chosen as one of the two hosts of "Pinoy Idol Extra," the other being Karylle. "I'm really excited kasi first hosting job ko ito."

But how does she feel when her detractors say she only got the assignment because GMA Artist Center boss Ida Henares is her aunt?

"It's unfair kasi I auditioned for this and my aunt has nothing to do with those who chose me. I really want to prove na bawat trabaho ko, pinaghihirapan ko naman talaga. I work hard for it."

Is it true she maligned her detractors on the net? "Nagulat nga ako. May minura raw ko. Wala naman. You know me, I was not brought up that way." She started crying at this point.

"Hindi ako iyakin pero sobra na talaga sila. Ni hindi ko nga sila kakilala, I don't know why they make an effort na siraan ako. I'm really affected kasi sa email nila sinisiraan pa nila ang ibang artista. Di magagalit naman sa akin ang mga artistang yun. Kaya nakikiusap ako, please stop it na. Gusto ko lang magtrabaho ako nang maayos."

We have some emails about the wedding of Bong Revilla's daughter Inah to Vince del Rosario:

From Beth Logg (wonder where out email senders get their names): "We saw the coverage of the wedding on TV and it's really nice, sosyal, expensive. I just hope it won't be a worthless wedding and waste of time if they will just end up with separation. These kids are up against a lot of odds as they're both so young and might just outgrow each other. Inah should have waited like her aunt, Andeng, who didn't rush into marriage kaya ngayon ay kitang-kitang maganda ang marriage niya to Gov. Junjun Ynares."

From Ginnie So: "Somehow, nalungkot ako nang makita ko kung gaano kagastos ang kasal ng anak ni Sen. Bong Revilla.

Naisip niya sigurong nagbabayad lang si Inah and it's payback time for him dahil naging malikot din siya sa chicks. Kahit binigyan pa sila ng P10 million na condo sa Forbes Park, hindi guarantee 'yon na magiging maganda forever ang samahan nila."

From Bang Revilla: "Ewan ko kung ako lang ang nakapansin. Ang anak ni Sen. Bong na si Inah ay kamukha ng Seiko sexy star noon na si Nini Jacinto. Ang groom naman niya ay kamukha ng midget action star noong si Wengweng. Parang hawig din sa dating TV host-reporter na si Anselle Beluso. I understand now kung bakit sila iyakan nang iyakan during the wedding. Siguro, scared sila for the newlyweds kasi ang babata pa, nag-asawa na. Mukhang hindi pa nila kaya to have their own family. Dapat, hindi muna sila nagmadali sa pagpapakasal just because Inah is already pregnant. Mas mabuting nagtapos muna sila sa pag-aaral. After all, if they're really meant for each other, 'di sila rin ang magkakatuluyan."

All we can say to them is to not be so negative about it. Let's just pray that Inah and Vince will be able to iron out whatever differences and conflicts in their relationship that surely will arise in the future. We also want to inform GMA-7 that we're getting many letters with negative feedback on "Pinoy Idol." It seems viewers find so many aspects of the show worth criticizing, from the contestants to the host and the three jurors to the show's set design (mukha raw tinipid) and direction. They should really do something before the 12 finalists are chosen to make the show more attractive to the viewers.
