‘I still live at my parents’ house in Dasma. I don’t want to rent and I want to save money so my daughters and I live with them muna. – Ruffa Gutierrez’

Ruffa denies flying the nest

AT the time "Startalk" was reporting last Saturday that Ruffa Gutierrez ran away from her parents’ home (they used the word "lumayas"), she was being interviewed by the press at the Women’s Crisis Center at East Avenue Medical Center where she’s presented as their official spokesperson.

"Anong naglayas?" she says. "I still live at my parents’ house in Dasma. I don’t want to rent and I want to save money so my daughters and I live with them muna. I have my own condo in Greenhills, but I plan to get my own house soon."

Is it because she had a tiff with her mom?

"No, it has nothing to do with that. My mom and I are okay now. I have no definite plans yet as to where I’ll move. It all depends on my budget. Basta hindi ako lumalayas. Masaya naman kami nina Lorin and Venice sa bahay ng parents ko."

It’s said her mom got mad because she’s being linked to John Lloyd Cruz.

"My gosh, that John Lloyd thing went out of hand, wala namang saysay. Lumaki lang ‘yung issue kasi tinukso-tukso ako ni Kris Aquino sa ‘The Buzz,’ kaya I told her to please clear that up. I’m glad John Lloyd already cleared me and Liz Uy herself, nag-email na kami sa isa’t isa and she said I have nothing to do with their breakup."

Does this mean she won’t ever fall for John Lloyd as he’s younger than her?

"Ano ba, the guy is not even making ligaw. And it’s as if naman, sobrang tanda ko sa kanya. For me, age doesn’t matter as long as you have the same beliefs and values. But right now, mas enjoy ako being single, honestly."

At the Women’s Crisis Center affair, she was officially welcomed by Dr. Victoria Abesamis of East Ave. Medical Center and Ada Luz of Avon, who then presented a cake for her as it’s going to be her birthday soon. Everyone present, including former battered women, sang the birthday song for her. "This is one of my most meaningful birthdays ever and I’m proud to be part of a sisterhood composed of some of the bravest women I know," says Ruffa, who also received a beautiful shawl as present, signifying the warm embrace of the center to all abused women who seek their help. "I encourage more battered wives to come out and fight for their rights."

Avon gave away women empowerment necklaces to all the battered wives present, the same one worn by Reese Witherspoon as the international Avon spokesperson. Ruffa is her local counterpart. Ruffa will be doing two new films with Regal: the "Ukay-Ukay" episode for "Shake, Rattle & Roll XI" and one that will reunite her with colleagues Aiko Melendez and Carmina Villaroel.

Katrina Halili’s fight for justice got a big boost with the NBI recommending the elevation of her case against Hayden Kho to the Department of Justice. The NBI says their findings show "Halili is suffering from an adjustment disorder with depressed mood" as a result of the sex video controversy. From the NBI office, Katrina went to the Gabriela office where she met three other women who are also sex video victims. They told her she serves as an encouragement to them to also seek justice for what’s been done to them.

Meanwhile, Eric Johnston Chua denied he was the one who uploaded the sex video on the internet, saying it is Dr. Vicki Belo who has the master copy. Lolit Solis says she’s not at all surprised that Eric is now putting the blame on Dr. Belo as he had previously told Hayden that he’ll single her out when he starts "singing" about what he knows on the controversy.

Eric revealed that his rift with Hayden started when Hayden had an affair with the girlfriend of their mutual friend, Dr. Bistek Rosario, proving he cannot be trusted as he seduces even someone who’s already going steady with his own best friend.

In "Startalk," Lolit revealed that an audio tape is being circulated to make it appear that she’s orchestrating the whole thing. She said this was taped by the lawyers of Hayden when she met with them and Hayden, along with his mom and Reli German (the PR man allegedly being paid by Dr. Belo to do damage control for him), at the home of Dr. Belo’s mom on May 21. But the tape was edited to make it appear that Lolit is the culprit.

"I challenge them to release the complete version para magkaalaman na kung ano ang totoo," says Lolit. "Ang gusto nilang palabasin, ako ang masama, masterminding the whole thing. Dapat, iparinig nila ‘yung unedited tape recording nila so people will know kung ano talaga ang naging buong takbo ng aming pag-uusap.

And what can Lolit say about the remark of Rosanna Roces in "SNN" that what’s happening to her and Dr. Belo now is a case of karma? Wala naman, a."

Marvin Agustin is paired with Jolina Magdangal and ex-girlfriend Pauleen Luna in GMA-7’s new primetime romantic comedy, "Adik Sa’Yo." So which one will he be seriously wooing on the set?

"Dapat ba may ganun?" he says. "Jolens and I have been good friends for 13 years now since our ABS days. When we started, mga bata pa kami. Right now, we’re both free. Who knows baka kami nga ang itinadhana after all these years? Wala namang imposible. As for Pauleen, friends din kami ngayon and I’m glad we can work comfortably with each other. Actually, si Pauleen ang childhood sweetheart ko rito but she’s more interested in a showbiz career. Si Jolens naman, siya ang may crush sa’kin pero ‘di ko siya pinapansin, until one night when we both get drunk and something happen between us.

"As of now, hindi ko priority ang love dahil sa sobrang busy ako. I’m in four shows now: ‘Dear Friend,’ ‘SOP,’ ‘Courageous and Outrageous’ at ito ngang ‘Adik Sa’Yo.’ Tapos busy pa ako with my various restaurants and also helping raise my twin sons. Wala namang time element ang love. Basta ‘pag dumating na ‘yung tamang panahon, mararamdaman mo."

How is it working with Jolina again?

"We’re now so comfortable with each other, wala nang ilangan o pressure at all kahit sa love scene that we did for the first time in this show. Nag-graduate na kami sa holding hands lang lagi. I’m just so happy na tanggap pa rin ang tao ang love team dahil when we ourselves appeared in ‘Dear Friend’ na hindi lang host, mas lalong tumaas ang rating ng aming Sunday afternoon show. Kaya we have high hopes na magiging toprater din ang ‘Adik Sa’Yo’ that starts airing tonight after ‘Totoy Bato.’"

Richard Gutierrez is just happy to be back to work on the set of his hit show, "Zorro." Looks like he has fully recovered from the car accident he had two weeks ago. But how come there’s a rumor that, Lorayne, the wife of his personal assistant who lost his life in the mishap, Nomar Pardo, is suing him for negligence?

"That’s not true," he says. "Nagkausap na kami nina Mommy (Annabelle Rama) and Lorayne and she said she didn’t say anything like that. Alam naman niyang walang may gusto sa nangyaring aksidente. Parang may mga tao lang na gusto kaming pag-awayin at gawaan ng intriga. Pero naging maayos ang usapan namin at nagpasalamat pa nga si Lorayne sa pag-aasikaso ni Mommy sa burol ni Nomar at sa GMA-7 for shouldering the expenses sa wake and cremation ni Nomar. I really miss Nomar kasi napakabait niyang tao at masarap kasama sa taping dahil laging maasikaso. We promised naman na we will help his family ngayong wala na siya, lalo na his two small kids. We’re thinking of putting up a trust fund for them."

"Zorro" this week gets even more engrossing. Antonio (Richard) is back as Zorro and he teams up with the Caballeros to fight the abusive Spanish government. Ramon (TJ Trinidad) and the guardia civil attack them with cannons, killing Marciano. Gov. Aragon (Eddie Gutierrez) is starting to lose his trust in Ramon and they plan to kill the people who help Zorro.

Ramon raids the church to look for Fidel the messenger and sees the family of Don Carlos (Leo Martinez) living there with Lolita (Rhian Ramos). Zorro helps Fidel escape. Lolita sees them in the woods and tells Zorro to help Antonio as she is the one she loves, not knowing that Zorro and Antonio are the same man. Zorro learns later that Ramon intends to burn the whole church.

Ryza Cenon was the female winner in "Starstruck 2" but, just like her counterpart Mike Tan, their careers have been overtaken by winners in "Starstruck 4" Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal. How does she feel about this?

"I just want to make it clear na hindi ako nagtatampo like what others say," she says. "At least, nasa ‘SOP’ pa rin naman ako every Sunday at marami akong guestings. ‘Yun nga lang, wala akong regular show where I act. My last was ‘yun pang ‘Fantastic Kids.’ Sana naman, mabigyan na ako ng bagong show before my acting gets rusty. But I’m willing to wait. There’s talk that I’ll be part of the new show, ‘Rosalinda,’ pero hindi pa ako sure. Sana nga matuloy. But I enjoyed joining the celebrity dance contest in ‘SOP’ where my team with Rainier Castillo and I became a finalist."
