Culinary school’s website
goes interactive

Reinventing the culinary foodscape and reaching out to the world, the Center for Culinary Arts (CCA), Manila has launched an interactive web site that can be accessed via www.cca-manila.com.

"We had a website like most culinary schools. The only difference is that we made it interactive, more progressive, and youthful as opposed to its static version," says JB Bolaños, marketing manager of CCA, Manila.

It was launched in time for the 11th anniversary of CCA last November. "We have garnered a number of inquiries from abroad. We have a young New Yorker who was inquiring about studying here while a student from India has already submitted his applications right after corresponding with us through the web site," says Bolaños.

One of the reasons for the interest of students is because the school’s programs are accredited by the American Culinary Federation Foundation (ACFF). The ACFF is the largest professional, non-profit organization for chefs and cooks in the United States. It was founded more than 75 years ago.

Activities on the website range from discussions about topics related to culinary arts with fellow members and chefs at the online community tab. One can also keep updates with friends and other members through the Chat Box. The website also offers its own online community called the Chefster.

CCA, Manila students also get a chance to find prospective employers as the website allows them to create their own profiles and post their resumes. Employers can also post job openings once they join the online community. Upcoming features include on-line counseling with the guidance counselor for CCA, Manila students.

"Misconceptions, like students becoming automatic chefs after finishing a course in culinary arts or the courses being too expensive, are very common. The truth is one becomes a chef after he/she has been recognized for his talent by his peers. Through the website, we can actually address such concerns and help correct misconceptions," Bolaños says.

CCA, Manila is confident that the Web site will reinvent the culinary foodscape in the years to come For inquiries on programs, e-mail to marketing@cca-manila.com, or visit the interactive www.cca-manila.com.
