“With him, I cannot entrust my future and that of my son. Tao lang akong nangangarap ng magandang buhay para sa akin, lalo na sa aking anak.”

Actress ditches immature, ambition-less lover

GABY dela Merced, former "Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Celebrity Edition 2" housemate, describes herself as a no-nonsense woman. Outspoken and frank to a fault, she may be mistaken for a tomboy (definitely she’s not, she swears). After all, she’s into a man’s sports, car racing.

In fact, she’s one of the few Filipinas to dominate the Asian Formula 3 circuit. She’s the only Filipina who competed in the full season of the series and her efforts made it to 1st runner-up in the Philippine National Formula championship.

"Racing," Gaby states, "gives me a big sense of freedom. Tipong the world is yours. At kaya mo lahat-lahat."

Gaby is the host of a new show on ABS CBN, "Gaby’s Xtraordinary/Files," which will feature scenes from the very popular Discovery Channel.

A 45-minute show, "GXF" for short will start March 9, before "ASAP ’08." Likewise, it will showcase interesting facts and amazing features on science, history, travel, food, culture, technology, civilization, and a lot more which everybody can learn from.

"GXF" is kid-friendly and very easy to understand as it uses Tagalog as the primary language in most of its features. In the pilot episode, Gaby will take her viewers to some countries with unbelievable culture like Austria where couples bathe in beer and in Bolivia where men court their women by throwing stones at them.

Gaby herself is set to discover a lot in the next few episodes like holding a seven-foot snake and playing an electric guitar a la rock star.

Her man didn’t mature in all the years they were together. This is the reason imparted to us by this dynamic actress of her decision to break away from her boyfriend, the father of her son.

She still loves him, she admitted, but not enough for her to cope with his childishness and seemingly ambition-less attitude.

The actress stated: "With him, I cannot entrust my future and that of my son. Tao lang akong nangangarap ng magandang buhay para sa akin, lalo na sa aking anak."

Clue: He is a struggling actor, too.

There is a previous incident, according to Ruffa Gutierrez, preceding the much-talked about snubbing incident which occurred between her and Lani Mercado at the wake of my mother at the Maria della Strada church on Katipunan Avenue last week.

According to her, three days before that, she bumped into Lani and her husband, Sen. Bong Revilla. As expected, she greeted the couple warmly. The senator gave her a peck on the cheek. Imagine her chagrin, Ruffa stated, when attempting to kiss Lani, the latter ignored her.

"Napahiya ako," she recalled in an interview with Boy Abunda and Cristy Fermin, her co-hosts in "The Buzz." "Kaya when at the wake we met, ako naman ang ’di kumibo sa kanya."

She has no idea, according to Ruffa, why Lani seems be cold or mad at her. She has not done anything bad to her at all.

"Kung ‘yong sama ng loob niya sa akin has something to do with the panliligaw sa akin ni Sen. Bong in the past, well that happened a long time ago. Bata pa ako noon at wala pang anak. I hope naman magkabati kami. Ayaw ko nang may kaaway," Ruffa concluded.

Receiving an award for his achievements as a komiks writer and movie and TV writer-director is not new to director Carlo J. Caparas. He has had received countless of them. But every award, he says, no matter which award-giving body is organizing, is well-appreciated and treasured. These trophies and plaques of achievement and appreciation, in fact, occupy a special place in the Caparas abode in Ayala Alabang.

Always, too, direk Carlo never forgets to share every award he receives with his wife, Donna Villa, and children, CJ and Peach.

"Actually, I take them as the biggest accomplishment I’ve had, so far. I am proud of them," direk Car-lo remarked happily.

When in the recently concluded Gawad Tanglaw Award held at the University of Perpetual Help System in Las Piñas City, where direk Carlo was chosen as the Lifetime Achievement Awardee in Comics, Donna, CJ, and Peach accepted the award on his behalf.

The director has two komiks novels, "Kamandag" and "Joaquin Bordado," currently being serialized in GMA-7. Both are top-raters.
