PETA summer workshop

Youngsters look forward to summer as the season to have fun. No more waking up early in the morning to catch the bus to school. Make the most out of summer vacation by attending theater lessons. The PETA Summer Theater Arts Workshop offers the following classes this summer:

Children’s Theater 1 (ages five to eight) and Children’s Theater 2 (ages nine to 12) let kids experience fun in music, movement, dance, poetry and puppetry through drama improvisation coupled with games. It includes processes that will develop their imagination and self-confidence. A performance showcase by the participants will be the final activity. Classes start from 8 a.m. to 12 noon beginning on April 9 until May 3.

For those who already completed the courses mentioned above, they can enroll in the Children’s Theater Production (CTProd) class which will be held from 8 a.m. to 12noon starting on April 7 until May 2. It allows kids aged nine to 12 to create and tell stories using their own imagination. They get to interpret characters from folk or fairy tales and combine it with their own stories as their final showcase.

Teenagers articulate youth power through the Integrated Theater Arts (ITA) approach – with creative drama, sounds and music, writing, body movements and dance, visual arts and group dynamics. At the Teen Theater (ages 13 to 16) participants will learn different styles of theater and media. Young people can show-off their talents as they mount an original piece on youth issues and concerns. Classes will be held from 1p.m. to 5p.m beginning on April 15 until May 10.

Teen Theater graduates may move on to the Teen Theater Production (ages 13 to 16) where they journey into a series of artistic discovery and exploration from Asian and Western theater traditions to the Philippine theater experience. They will work creatively on different genre in mounting theatrical production pieces reflective of their artistic talents and concerns. The classes will be held from 1p.m. to 5p.m. starting on April 15 until May 3.

Adult courses (ages 17 and above) include Theater Arts 1, Basic Acting, Creative Musical Theater, Creative Dance Theater and Production Design
