Jose "Joe" P. Hombrebueno is an Ilocano
artist. He will present his works in his solo exhibit dubbed as
Colors of Nature in Harmony at the Burnham Suites’ Sunflower
Café at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Hombrebueno’s subjects include flowers,
figures and landscapes. He gives a new perspective on the beauty
of nature through the mix of colors, cultures, and strokes. He
works with different mediums like- watercolor, ink, and oil,
uses colors captured through different angles which speak of
life’s joys and pleasures. He already exhibited his works in
galleries in Manila and overseas. His paintings have also been
published in books and magazines.
"The texture, style and the combination of
the colors used vividly display the creativity of his artworks.
It is the beauty of the artwork that speaks of his God-given
talent… He likewise gets the nod and respect of his peers," says
Bella S. Flores.
He received the third prize in the Green
Revolution poster making contest in 1975 and started his career
in the arts. His first exhibit in 1982 was followed with other
shows at the following venues: Goethe Institute, German Cultural
Center, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum, Tokyo, Japan; Sydney,
Australia; Dubai and New York and here in the country at the
National Museum, Manila Hotel, Philam Life Building, SM Megamall,
Metro Gallery and Intramuros.
