What’s a kiss to you? Would you kiss someone
with bad breath? How important is having good breath in a
relationship? Dentiste recently came out with its Philippine and
Hong Kong surveys to determine what would turn on guys’ and
girls’ switches and their biggest turn-offs when it comes to
kissing.
The Philippine survey was conducted among 88
respondents, comprising 70 percent female, 60 percent from ages
21 to 39. On the other hand, the Hong Kong survey was conducted
among random respondents of approximately 100, both male and
female.
What does a kiss mean to you? Fifty one
percent said they kiss to show affection, followed by a good way
to resolve a lovers’ quarrel (29 percent) and as a prelude to
intimacy (10 percent).
Majority still prefer good oral hygiene over
good looks. In fact, 81 percent said that they would rather kiss
a plain Pedro or Maria with a nice breath over a handsome hunk
or bombshell with bad breath. The HK survey found that 90
percent of women respondents would rather kiss a full-bearded
man rather than a clean-shaven one with bad breath. On the other
hand, 91.5 percent of the male respondents said they would even
opt to kiss someone with facial skin imperfections over a
clean-faced one with bad breath.
Seventy four percent agree that it’s better
to have a partner who is not a good kisser rather than having
someone with bad breath. The top three things that one looks for
in partner are good character (29 percent), intelligence (22
percent) and good oral hygiene (20 percent).
