Former Physics teacher
leads PMA graduates


FORT DEL PILAR, Baguio City - A graduate of Physics from Zamboanga before he joined the Philippine Military Academy leads this year's 220 graduates of the country's premier service institution.

Cadet Ariel Rallos, who will receive the Presidential Saber as well as the President Arroyo Achievement Award during next week's commencement exercises, will join the Navy.

Rallos was teaching Algebra and Physics at the Ateneo de Zamboanga when he decided to take the PMA entrance examination.

The other Top 5 members of Class Baghawi (Bagong Halaw ng Lahi) are Bernard Joaquin of Pangasinan, Me-ann Sinson of Albay, Dennis Legaspi of Zamboanga Sibugay and Vergel Lacambra of Pagadian City.

A total of 119 graduates will join the Army, 57 the Navy and 44 the Air Force.

Maj. Gen. Leopoldo Maligalig, PMA superintendent, said the members of the Baghawi class represent the new breed of officers who are deeply committed to the Constitution. - Ma. Elena Catajan
